Recruiting Insider: Weekend preview

    Tennessee will be hosting at least a handful of high-priority prospects this weekend for its home game Saturday against Missouri, including a pair of official visitors.

  • Hope this staff knows what they are doing but I just don't see the higher ranked recruits getting a lot of attention from the coaches and we've got probably the best facilities almost complete. What's the purpose of building it if we're not going to relentlessly recruit top talent. They better get some big time talent on defense because I don't believe our offense is going to be nearly as explosive next season. More than likely all our starting WR group is gone and there's not a lot of younger kids getting reps since our defense can't stop anyone and we have to play our starters 4qtr just to hang on. What is everyone else's opinion?

    You have to build up to that. Not too many four anf five star guys are going to go to mid to low level teams. When we start beating SEC teams and go to major bowls we can start getting these guys. Dooley has actually done a good job of recruiting guys that stay.

    I was having this conversation with someone today. Aren't Dooley and the staff are known as strong closers due to their philosophy of building relationships with players? Am i correct about this? I would be concerned what it is closer to Signing day...but not now. Also, depending on how the season ends it could change dramatically between now and then.

  • I see Dillon Bates will be at the game Saturday. I wonder if we could put a uniform on his Dad and sneak him into the game at Safety. I'm sure he could still play.
