Respect

  • This is a word a lot of ut fans need to learn. We must respect the decisions of others no matter how we feel. I wanted tee to come here as bad as anyone, but I totally respect his decision for whatever the reason. He owes us nothing, he plyed here and one a NC, but he has another good job now, he checked us out and decided to stay put. That's ok people we don't not need to think we have the right to force what we think as fans on others. We move on now, go big orange.

  • Completely agree. Wish Tee all the best, and hopefully he comes home later in his career.

    He owes us nothing and we owe him nothing. I like Tee but this is a business decision. Part of that decision is backlash he gets from his "home". I don't think people should be vilifying his twitter account but if Vol fans want to view him as the enemy, so be it.

    As far as I'm concerned, he's Saban, Spurrier, Kiffin or any coach we compete against. He comes into our backyard and recruits against us which, by its very nature, means he's trying to hurt this program. He hurt this program today, whether intentional or not, in a bad way. He's the enemy. Sorry if I don't get warm and fuzzy feelings because he was our QB 15 years ago.

    He had a chance to be a Vol again but he's not. He's a competitor. So that's my attitude. He hurt the program publicly. I don't begrudge his decision. That's his right. Don't begrudge any Vol fan's decision that doesn't view him as a Vol anymore.

    Lets not lose sight of the fact that this is a two way street. I live in Atlanta and remember when Tee was down here coaching high school kids trying to work his way into coaching. I don't remember Vol fans being so worried about where Tee was coaching in those days. There certainly wasn't a "bring Tee home" movement back then.

    If you are going to get on Tee for making the best decision for his family then you should be equally upset with Fulmer, Dooley and the entire athletic administration for not "bringing him home" in some capacity back when he was struggling to make a name and a living for himself.

    The treatment he's getting on Twitter right now is a damn shame.

    I don't understand why fans can't just say we gave it a shot but he declined to come back, instead of attacking him and his decision to stay at USCw and wish him well in life. I am a middle aged man early 40's and over the years I have learned respect from the younger generation these days is almost extinct if they don't hear or get what they want this is the response you get outlashing and anger

    I agree and as far as someone stating he hurt the program publicly, I believe that only if you wear your feelings on your sleeve. A man made a mostly unpopular decision with this rabid fan base but he in no way publicly defaced UT.

    He hurt the program's perception. You can't get a guy to come back to a place where we named a street after him? How's that recruiting pitch going to go when one of our coaches goes up against Tee? "Hey man. They wanted me to come back. I've got a street named after me up there. I won a national title. That place is home to me. But I couldn't go back. The place is a mess."

    Good luck recruiting against that. And that's only Tee. Other programs will piggyback on that as well.

    Again, I don't begrudge Tee for making a business decision. But don't begrudge me for not bowing down to a guy that willingly hurt our program today. He's no more Vol today than Saban or Muschamp.

    Pretty much, and for someone who was once my favorite player that's a bitter pill to swallow.
