Richt talks Tennessee

Georgia coach Mark Richt met with local media today to talk about the Bulldogs’ preparations for Tennessee. What did the Dawgs' veteran coach have to say about the Vols?

  • Great report Wes. CMR was very complementary of our O and made some good points about the D. I agree with Rockytop, I just hope the Vols can cause issues for them everywhere he expressed potential for it to happen. Got to definitely bring the A game. Bring a B or less and carry a butt whoopin' back to Ktown. GO VOLS!

BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!

  • Tenn needs to keep from turning the ball over. I know that's every game but if they turn it over against Georgia they will be in big trouble. Also if they get behind by 10 or more points early, it could be a very long day. My biggest concern is that we cannot stop the running game and the defense will spend tremendous amounts of time on the field. Still I'm hoping for the best and would love to see Tenn pull a big upset.

  • Richt is respectable in the fact that he doesn't underrate the teams he plays. Georgia will be very much prepared for us. Tennessee, though, could conceivably win this game. If they get the run going well in the first half (which will be a challenge) then they will be able to impose a bit of will. Throw the play-action in there and make those safeties bite, and the Vols' passing will more than likely stay wide open. The big question mark in this is how well the Vols respond to adversity that is surely to come in a game like this. This should be a good one.

I agree. We must have a run game established early to pull the llinebackers up a step or two. A well paced run game will also, allow the D to rest up some becasue they will need to be high motor the entire time they are on the field.

The run game is the ticket.

  • We have to set the edge or they will kill us. I pray we start Willie Bo because Smith just doesn't get it. We also have to get in Murray's face. He will demolish us if he gets time but will give us the ball if we pressure and sack him. I am really worried about our D. I think the game hinges on their ability to stop Georgia. We will need to get off the field as quick as possible. If we keep them below 30% on 3rd down conversions we should win this game.

  • I played in a golf tournament with him and he is exactly like those comments. People really have to be obnoxious to get under his skin. He is a Christian to the core and I respected him so much for his convictions and how he carries himself. He is very positive as you can tell. I could see him as a Pro coach and after that a Coach of Christian athletes. Class act. Now, I think he also has a lot of confidence that they are going to kick our butts too. We are going to have to have our best game running and getting turnovers to beat them. Our defense is going to have to be incredible and Bray is going to have to check down much better than he has been. I don't see him check down from one to the next. I think he knows who he is going too and he either throws it to them or throws it over. What do you guys think?

I agree but barring a complete meltdown on offense this game is on our D. We will score points.

I agree with the assessment about our D. We need turnovers early and positive running and passing yards early.

  • I'm not worried abour the first half this game will be won in the 2nd half how much did our team learn against florida

  • I agree with Richt about not being all that concerned about being balanced if you have the receivers and a guy who can spin it in there. We have to score a bunch to win. That is who we are. The defense is my concern. They have to play better.

  • All it takes for the Vols to win is for them to play like crazed weasels, not turn the ball over, get over a hundred yards on the ground, make TDs not FGs, all while Georgia is somehow overlooking UT despite the intelligent preparation that Coach Richt is obviously supplying. Then the Vols could get the best win of Dooley's career. Simple. And to me... possible, even if not probable.

  • If we allow Marlon Brown to get open over the middle without pressuring Murray, it will be a long afternoon. The D really needs to show up and get a few turn overs.
