We are in the second week of November. We have zero SEC wins. Our defense just gave up 48 points and over 700 yards of offense to Troy. I can't remember when I have felt so down and so hopeless about Tennessee football. Even when Bill Battle was here we had Johnny Majors to look to - everyone knew Johnny would come home and make things right.

But there is no Johnny Majors. There is no hero who is going to march onto to campus and make things right. I'm not even angry about Dooley any more. I'm just apathetic. We didn't go to the game last week and won't go to any more games despite having tickets to all of them. My wife and I just don't care any more. Years of mismanagement of the football program have done this to us.

I guess we'll watch the game on Saturday. Coach Dooley says to watch for big changes on the defense. He wants them to "think less" and have Coach Sal go to the coaches booth (presumably as much for his personal safety rather than for any strategic advantage that might be gained). Frankly, I'm not overwhelmed with confidence.

Wow, I just can't believe how far we have fallen. How much of a "has been" we have become. The football program has no momentum. No positive feelings. It just feels desperate, like they are just holding on and trying to get through the season. These are dark times.
