Rutgers HC is better than Strong

  • DCVolunteer said...

+1 I was going to make this point, but I didn't want to make this a Flood against Strong thread. I think Flood may be a good coach, but let's wait til year three. I work with a guy that is an alum and huge Rutgers football fan, he was at the game lastnight. He didn't like Schiano's Xs and Os, but raved about the recruiting. I believe the current Rutgers team may have a few five stars, both from Jersey. Flood had been a position coach for his entire career before being promoted to head coach and none of the schools prior to Rutgers were FBS. Comparing Flood to Strong is unfair to Flood and Strong.

Good analysis. +1 I am at a point where I would take Strong or Fedora. I just can't get comfortable with Golden and can't really say why.

I don't have a problem with strong. I'm sure he's a great guy. He just hasn't impressed me enough as a HC for me to feel comfortable with him being named HC at UT. The BCS thing doesn't impress me. It's the Big East and he hasn't dominated the schedule like an SEC caliber coach in his 3rd year should IMO

He lost two games with a challenged roster. It wasn't that easy to get kids to come and play at Louisville when he first got there. The three years before Strong arrived- 6-6, 5-7, 4-8. The two years prior to Strong's arrival Louisville won 2 conference games. An SEC caliber coach takes a challenged roster and Sophomore QB, in the Big East and in three years leads it to a BCS Bowl.

  • Strong isn't leaving Louisville. Cards are in the BCS and he has Teddy B. Why would he leave to go to Knoxville? Tell me one thing Tennessee has done since 98'.

We play in the SEC. He can recruit better to Tennessee then he could Louisville. Nobody gives a damn about the ACC or Big East. It's all about the SEC.

Pay our coaches more money that Louisville has.

He had a chance to squash the coaching rumors last night in his post game presser and he side step the question when he was asked directly. Your issue should be with Strong, not TN.

Now, that's funny! Going from one league that schools are bailing out of to another where they're doing the same thing. Yeah, I'm surethat'll keep him there forever.

  • Dooley and Chaney are still owed 5.6 mil. Other 4 mil to other coaches. Almost 10 mil on people that aren't going to be there. This is from the News Sentinel. So how are you going to pay Charlie more?

That can be paid off over 4 years, and the Academic side just gave us back $18million dollars. We got the money.

  • The name of the post is Rutgers HC is better than Strong now Strong is the second coming of Jesus. Clearly Kyle Flood is the man for the UT job. The beginning of this thread starts off with how bad of a HC Charlie is. So which one is it. Sound like UK fans, "he sucks, but when the big boys come calling he's leaving." Never seen a program do less with more. Now you'll increase tuition to pay another coach. I hear Petrino is unemployed. Hey Louisville ties there go for it. We can match any amount Charlie is offered and won't have to increase tuition to do it.

Go back to your board with 50 people and talk basketball. Strong is getting out of there because you guys are going to get exploited in the Orange Bowl if you play FSU, may lose by 30. You better hope GT wins that game or you will be embarrassed like Cinci was against Florida.

  • A point that should be made is that if Strong ends up coming to Tennessee it will probably be announced weeks before Louisville plays in the Orange Bowl.

I was looking at the entire season.

The title of your thread is "Rutger HC is better than Strong" while they are playing against each other, but you were judging by "looking at the entire season"?

    ....OK huh

  • Well, he's not a very friendly guest.

Why would he be here if he weren't a bit nervous? Hmmm.

Probably a case of posting a little prematurely. Then backtracking obviously.

I do not represent Vol Nation in it's entirety, sir. I don't want Strong, but many here do. If our AD is someone that wants him, we'll get him and there's nothing anyone at Louisville can do about it.

There was one or two people putting forth the opinion that Flood trumped Strong, and the rest of us attempted to educate them on why that was incorrect, and somewhat silly. Now maybe that statement can be made in another two or three years, but one sounds kind of off saying a career OL coach who's only FBS job was with Rutgers, where he was promoted to head coach and inherited one of the best rosters and recruiting structures Rutgers has ever had is better than a two time national championship D-coordinator, successful D-coordinator at South Carolina, and head coach who really did inherit a dumpster fire of a program and took it to a BCS bowl in three years.

That's what I assumed when u posted while Louisville was losing. And then posted again when u said u were basing that on the whole season after Louisville came back to win. Maybe I was wrong.
Do u seriously think Rutgers HC is better than strong? I don't have an opinion bc I don't know much about him.

I don't doubt that you don't believe Strong is capable, but I also believe that you wanted to use him losing to Rutgers to support your belief, and that just didn't happen.
