SIAP- James Franklin needs to "anchor down" some ticket buyers

  • Looks like nobody wants to see the men of honor, the best wide receiver team in the SEC, America's next great college football franchise play in primetime against a quality opponent. Can't wait for the orange out in November.

"Count it down with me. Five, four, three, two, one. The national champion is clad in Big Orange!"

  • Wow! I understand it's a school night and all, but you'd think 40k tickets for this would go pretty quick in a town the size of Nashville. That's very surprising.

Wouldn't it be great if, at one or two games, Vol fans could buy up all the unwanted tickets and sing Rocky Top through the whole game. This was not my idea but I think it's a great one. Nice post +1

  • It's arguably the most anticipated Vandy game that I recall in my lifetime. They're getting love all over ESPN and can't even fill up that stadium. Perhaps the Franklin factor has been overestimated. Hope they have some recruits there to see the empty seats.

I went to UTK, but I'm going to this game with my Uncle that went to Vandy. But I will probably hold off on singing Rocky Top until the Vols are in the Dome in December during the SEC Championship game.

P.S. Thanks for the Down Vote. I guess you do not think that the Vols will be playing in the SEC Championship Game in December?

Plus 1 to make up the down vote. Just wear orange tomorrow. Ha!

Thanks, after reading my initial post it may have sounded like I was knocking my Vols. I wasn't trying to. I will be at a few games in Neyland this year singing Rocky Top and cheering on my alma mater as well. I got tickets for this Vandy and South Carolina game months ago as a gift to my Uncle that recently retired from the Navy as a Captain. He went to Vandy (as did my Aunt, both on my dad's side), and the rest of the family went to Tennessee.

P.S. My Aunt and Uncle that went to Vandy, both got post grad degrees from Tennessee and my Aunt has season tickets in Neyland, so they are Tennessee fans as well. I just thought this would be a fun game to attend to kickoff the season.

  • They didn't sell out the last UT game I went to at Vandy. It's sad.

Yea, and every few minutes yell "Hey Franklin, if there's one think Tennessee always does its kick the _ _ _ _ out of Vanderbilt."

  • Even though it means I have to pull for the evil Steve Spurrier, I am soooooo ready for Vandy to get knocked off the pedestal that the national media has inexplicably put them on this preseason. News flash people: it's still Vandy!!!

  • Lived in Nashville for 6 years after graduating from UT in early 90s. I had season fix to Vandy BBall when Folger was coach which also facilitated UT tix. I could get behind Vandy bball then except when they played UT. However, Vandy football is a losing proposition in Nashville. Always will be behind UT and now the Titans.

Mike Leach might be the only coach to provide an interest to at least fill the stadium, but that is about it. Since I
Iived in middle Tennessee, I have seen DiNardo, Widenhoffer, Johnson, and now the Anchor Down boy. It won't work. And, in my opinion, his vaunted recruiting class might have second thoughts if they observe home empties and beat downs to USC, Fla, UGA and UT.

    My two cents.....

You did not get a down vote from me. I might have given 1 down vote in 30 days...maybe.

  • Yeppers. Forgot him in the carousel. Leach is the only one that might could break the ice.

I love Leach living in Texas and look forward to watching WSU game tonight late. What he accomplished at Tech is lost a bit.
