  • I heard from someone who was with the coaches and recruits all day today that coach sal is an extremely intense guy. I think that's exactly what this program needs. It was obvious with our last game that toughness and intensity is lacking in our football program. Je made mention of the guys being big headed and full of themselves and have zero reason to be. Would not be surprised to see our defense turn into a bunch of fire breathing, foul mooded nasty bunch. He will help them develop that mean stream that our last DC lacked. I cannot tell you guys how happy I was to hear what o heard today. Good things to come boys, good things.

  • I know, ready for the Pack...tried to buy tickets last night. Already have my room at the St. Regis booked, can't wait to reverse the Georgia dome curse. Haven't seen my Vols win there since 1998, wow sad.

  • Yeah well, I'm still in the Wilcox fan club. Just don't think they are or were going to get anyone better than him for a replacement (and don't think they did). With the roster he had to deal with and the teams he had to face...he did a phenomenal job.

Honestly there will be no way to ever truly compare the two. Wilcox came in after the dumpster fire while Sunseri is getting a lot of returning starters and depth to start with. So it's going to be hard to really see whose better unless Sunseri totally bombs.

I like Wilcox and agree he came into a *%^& storm. not sure anyone will ever fully appreciate him. however, I do not think he was quite ready for the SEC and sometimes struggled to adjust. Sunseri is the best thing to happen for our team in a long while. his abilty to recruit, develop talent, and having been exposed to John Fox and Nick Saben for nearly a decade should show up right away.

Examples of adjustment issues of scheme? Not freshman LB's constantly out of place or CB's constantly being beaten on routes.

  • i agree with the fact that sunseri was the best hire, under the circumstances, and i'm happy to hear he is an intense individual. But is an overbearing intense attitude going to blend with the current staff already here? i understand thompson is interviewing with so.car. sometime soon, if not already. IIRC thompson came to tennessee from the exact same coaching position at bama, and probably isnt the happiest person getting replaced by his successor from his previous job. this just makes me wonder if everything is going to mesh well next year. Definitely hope so, go vols

    How do you purchase tickets?

  • 4250 I think as of now LT interviewing another school is more of an ITT rumor, not substantiated!

Me too Manndingo. Lived in ATL since '89 and cannot stomach another lose in the Dome. Hoping that the curse is lifted and this staff can turn it around.

This Dome jinx must end! Agree, I've seen every Vol game ever played in the place and it's time to get back to the '97 and '98 vibe! Every time we play there we turn it into Neyland South, so it certainly isn't the fans' fault.

    It's a New Era!

New attitude on defense is a must. Last year there wasn't much of that at all.

Hopefully Sunseri will light a fire under the defense and they will begin to resemble an SEC defense again.
