How the hell is Butch Jones comparable to Dooley? Please someone explain this to me.

This has nothing to do with Dooley.

At some point, you've got the give the guy a chance. Most hires are shots in the dark anyway.

He's not my first choice, but I'll make the best of it and support him until he demonstrates that he doesn't deserve it. You can pout in the corner all you want.

There are no unifying hires. Everyone's got favorites and guys they don't want.

You sir, are absolutely, 100% not ALL VOL. You disgrace the Volunteer name. If I was not a poor college student living in Indiana I would immediately buy these tickets from you, because you do not deserve them.

Please stop associating yourself with our team if you wont support our new coach.

You couldn't be more wrong. My thoughts on the past coaching scenerios.
1. Phillip Fulmer - I thought his firing was rushed
2. Lane Kiffin - Hated, Hated this move, but I LOVED the staff he brought with him.
3. Derek Dooley - Worst hire of any SEC school in a long time
4. Butch Jones (if it happens) - I will be pretty excited for the hire. He's got the record and I think he can become a winner.

Try getting off of the pedestal thinking that the Tennessee is the same Vol football program it used to be. It's not. That has to be earned back, and we are getting the best candidate that we can get.

You just can't let go of the "Dooley sucks" thing, can you? The people who are threatening to turn in their season tickets (if they even had them to begin with) aren't true Vol fans anyways, so this fanbase as a whole will be better off without them. You don't want a "unifying" hire, you want a "splash" hire that will generate a bunch of press up front with absolutely no guarantee of success down the road. Gruden has no track record as a college HC, so there's no guarantees he would have been the man in Knoxville (see Charlie Weiss in his college endeavors). At least Jones has a demonstrable and proven track record of success in the college ranks.

He isn't. He's a much better coach. The question is whether he's the best guy we can get, which is something I find pretty questionable. We'll see what happens.
