What happened to being in love with Knoxville, and knowing it was where he wanted to be? You commit to a program, not a coach. If he really thought Sirmon was going to be his position coach for 4-5 years, then he and his family weren't doing their research. Position coaches move around a lot, and Sirmon's move to another program was somewhat expected, as he was highly regarded.

Thank you for sharing the story. I hope Wednesday's visit with Santos reassures him that Knoxville is the place for him. Any word on who will be doing the in-home visit? Sounds like he really developed a very strong relationship to Sirmon . . . the coaching carousel throughout the NCAA football programs must be very frustrating for these young athletes. Still I agree that they should commit to the program, not individual coaches.

Man we really need this kid

I hope he sticks. He's not as important now with the move to a 3-4 but good kid and 4 year player.

Let's please not bash a kid who hasn't even signed a LOI with the Vols yet. This kid is making a choice that can and will impact the rest of his life. It is an important decision that he himself must make. If he chooses the Vols, great welcome aboard. If for some reason he doesn't, then good luck to you son. Either way you go, this one recruit, good as he is, shouldn't define who we are as a fan base, or a program. Before we go casting stones, we need to think back on some of the players that we've gotten in the past who came as a result of flipping their commitments.

Honestly, I wish the NCAA would either move national signing day up, or else let's just do away with this mess of commiting 5,6,7,8 months ahead of signing day.
