Santos switches to Texas

  • This is a kid that stated that one of his dreams was to play in the SEC, and that was one of the reasons he originally chose UT over A&M. Now he's completely ditching his opportunity to play in the SEC so he can play where daddy wants him to go? Ultimately it's his decision and whatever happens from here on out is between him and Texas. This just opens up some more room in the recruiting class for Sunseri and Dooley.

I'm not even going to try to pretend I know how a 17-18 year old HS senior thinks. Hell, I couldn't even tell you how I thought about things at that age. I could understand switching to A&M given their move to the SEC, but going to a middle of the pack team in the Big 12 seems like a major step down IMO.

  • hell OAK, everything is bigger in Texas...especially the egos and toes they keep stumbling over!....can't wait for the folks like you on this site to see the TA&M "yell leaders"/ "closet gay cheerleaders" and hear your reactions.....

I've seen the "yell leaders" on TV before, I just about fall out of my chair laughing every single time. There's something about it that just doesn't fit my perception of what college football is all about.

  • Sorry to see Santos leave. Best of luck to him at Texas.

I agree with the many who said it's time to move on. We've got a lot of talented guys we're still talking to, and now one more slot open for them.

  • All fairness to Santos-- he was recruited by Wilcox and Sirmon and they bolted and didn't say a word to him. If he doesn't want to learn under Sunseri, who just coached a defense-full of future NFL-ers, then that's his loss. Good luck to him..but you missed out on playing in the best conference in the nation!

“He committed to Texas this morning and he’s fired up!” Mr. Santos, no offense, the worst thing a parent coan do is live vicariously through his/her/their children. You have done a huge disservice to your son in steering him toward the school YOU wish him to play for.

Dalton, I do wish you the best of luck in your decision(s), but sooner or later you must make your OWN decisions and not let your father make them for you.

obviously none of these kids have noticed what happened to bryce brown he had it made with the vols then his dad stepped in and ruined his college career. i really wish some of these recruits would take the randell cobb approach as much as i would have liked him to wear the orange and white he stayed committed to Kentucky despite the late offer from the vols

  • Very disappointed by some of the ignorant vitriol being spewed on this thread. Gotta put a stop to this stuff. If you want a place to flame high school kids and other fans, TOS should fit you just fine.

This is a place where intelligent discourse about Tennessee football happens. Questioning the academic quality of another school (which in this case happens to far exceed our own) or calling an 18 year old names is juvenile and I hope the mods and established members of this community will not let this site be coopted by these folks. Enjoy your free month quietly and move along.

  • he will switch schools again by signing day.... he has obvious commitment issues and the big orange does not need commitment issues on or off the field . the big 12 is weak and he'll never see the the field nor a national championship. he will soon regret his decision and i believe the national media espn especially has definately underrated this recruiting class and definately under estimate Coach Dooley. As far as Santos .. he will be forgotten here in Tn and at Texas on practice squad riding the pine ....... NEXT!!!!

  • No big deal. The kid grew up a Texas fan. The bad part for him is that he will be deep on the depth chart and they came late to the dance so he was not on their "favorites"list until the end.

  • I agree. I didn't see any thing in the UA game to impress me. I hope I am wrong and the kid has a great future. Maybe this will be a positive and open up a spot for a kid who really wants to be a VFL.
