It's nice to know these guys truly care for their team mates, but I can't help but envision a Ray Lewis type motivational speaker every time I read quotes from Lathers. I almost got goose bumps from the "write your own story" quote.

Those young men are good leaders. They are winners in life if not on the field. I hope the teammates remaining take what they have said to heart. If they do, they will succeed.

His dad played for Army, IIRC. A good source of information on the Bartholomew family is R.A. Dickey's book. R.A. is basically an adopted son of the Bartholomew's, and married to Ben's older sister.
