Skipper 'not worried' about Dooley

Tennessee offensive tackle commitment Dan Skipper insists he's not concerned about Vols coach Derek Dooley's future for now, but he's already hearing from other colleges.

  • Sounds like a great kid who is very realistic about the situation. Unless you grew up a Tenn fan and have wanted to play for them all your life, a coaching change would certainly make one reassess the situation. Hopefully we can hold on to most of our commitments but it's not going to be easy unless Hart can come up with a "Home run" type hire.

  • Our recruiting board will change by up to 40-50%....just get ready. And it is not all bad...let it play out and then make your judgements in February. I am bracing myself for the doomsday guys when it comes to recruits.

  • I love interviews with linemen. They may seem like big dumb creatures, but they are normally the smartest guys on the field and fairly articulate. Skipper has the right attitude and seems focused on the correct priorities. I hope Tennessee keeps him, and Pittman for that matter. I would love to see a line with Tiny Richardson on one side and a kid that is even bigger on the other.

  • Sir, the decision to fire Dooley is already made. He won't see year 4 at Tennessee. That is the one thing you can be sure of of.

  • This kid wants to be an engineer. I know one of the professors at UT who he met with. He and his parents came down on his official and the prof was very impressed with this young man.

  • This guy sounds too wise to be, maybe, 18. Talks like he's every bit of 28+. He will do well in life if he keeps that view. Whatever his decision, I wish him the very best.

Welcome to the board, Fatboygolf! Happy to have you here!

Like the professor you referenced, I've been impressed with Skipper in my dealings with him. Seems like a really bright kid.

  • If Dooley and staff go down which is probably, the recruiting will take a hit . As well. Same thing happened when Fulmer left his players pretty much ababdoned ship with some being kicked under the bus By kiffin including the current Clemson QB star Tiah Boyd. Kiffin rebounded with a pretty good class but most left when Kiffin left including several committments and Dooley rebounded with a pretty good first class under the circumstances but during the first year lost a lot of players and now Dooley is apt to leave and again the recruiting landscape will change, how much and to what deegree, will be determined by the new probable staff.
