My parents gave me a white football helmet with an orange stripe for my 10th b'day, and I was a big time fan from that day til now. And, no, it wasn't a leather helmet, but it was 1951. A great year to become a Vol (Nat Champs). I did graduate from UT eventually, and the helmet no longer fit. Brain grew too large after after all the "seat time" on the Hill. VFL

Johnny Majors was such a hero when I was in HS (Fulton). When I was a kid, the games were not on TV since Knoxville had no TV stations until '54 I think. So we listened to all the games on the radio. In HS I ran in a track meet around Shields-Watkins field on the oval track that encircled the football field. Sorry for all the nostalgia, and I'll try to keep future comments to the present.
Heck no, let the memories rip. Good stuff. We old timers wax nostalgia all the time.
