Stokes not loving 'garbage man' job

Jarnell Stokes stopped short of demanding the ball on a more consistent basis in the aftermath of UT's loss to Ole Miss on Wednesday night, but he inched closer to that line.

  • I have noticed as well that we substitute for Stokes during a period where he is getting the ball and scoring. You look up and we have 5 guys on the court with no real offensive threat! Just my opinion!

  • I didn't know if the garbage reference referred to picking up cheap baskets or his teammates. Hey-O! Thanks, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress!

  • If he would make a few shots around the basket, this would be a none issue. He misses too many shots that a man his size shoiuld be able to make. I wonder sometimes why he lays it up when he could power through and dunk the blasted thing!

  • He needs to hit his freethrows or put it in the hole when it's a tough shot I do agree with 3's we can't shoot them at the rate we are no matter how open some of these guy's are untill they actually hit better than 25%. Last year Stokes would get the ball 10' to 15' from the rim and could beat someone off the dribble or pull up and knock down a shot, now with Maymon out he's posting under the basket and is getting beat to death everytime we go to him. CCM and the rest of the team need to find a way to get him the ball where he actualy has a chance to be an impact wether it's dishing or scoreing. Golden injured or not and McBee need to stop fireing 3's when they can't throw one in the ocean from a carnival cruise liner.

  • If he shop better at the free throw line he would get the ball. I have to agree he's one of the best players out there but he don't want it. He seems like a real deal but he's not wanting it. I believe and hope it will grow on him. He is well blessed with the body to bang with anybody down low. PRACTICE FREE THROWS

  • Stokes and consequently the Vols miss Maymon terribly. D's can concentrate on Stokes and we have no perimeter shooting to make them pay for doubling down. We haven't had a shooter in three years.

Agree Stokes gets the ball with 2 or 3 defenders as well. With Maymons away from the ball movement and ball scoring threat we made teams pay last year when this happened but not with the current 4s & 5s playing with Stokes! I say get him More touches not less and work inside out more
