THIS is what we need...

  • If you really question Gruden's ability as a coach and leader, watch the video at the top of this article and tell me what you think.

    It's a no brainer IMO.

Jon Gruden reportedly linked to Tennessee, Arkansas | NFL.com

Jon Gruden might be considering a return to coaching. It sounds like he wont have any shortage of options in the college game.

  • Great find 'coop. The more stuff like this that I see, the harder it is to temper expectations that Gruden actually COULD be our next coach! +1

BOOM...love that stuff! Reminds me of my gunny sgt in the USMC...crazy SOB!!

Think he would fire up the D taking snaps in practice or what? Love that part of clip when he's chewing that guy's a*s...what are you 6-5, (pause) 6-3...after i get done w/ya, you're gonna be 5-you're gonna 5-9 (fist to the chest). Maybe I'm old school, but I love that style!

OK, I've woken up from my dream...

  • I've always thought that for every concern we may have about Gruden's transition to college coaching, be it strategically, can be squashed by what we know we will get in terms of motivation, energy and enthusiasm. The man can flat-out motivate players to big wins.

One thing about Dooley's teams, they were constantly trying to get 'over that hump.' We knew we had the talent to beat good teams, but we never did. It was cited too many times, how we didn't believe we could win. We just hoped we could.

I have to wonder how many wins Gruden would have achieved in 2012 /w this Vols roster?

A Gruden hire would INSTANTLY legitimize Tennessee in the eyes of the SEC and in the homes of the upper echelon recruits. The players would INSTANTLY get a swagger about them that this team has lost over the last decade. Not only will Tennessee have the talent to win, they'll have that swagger that says, "Oh yea, this is OUR house...and you made the mistake of comin' in here".
