Earlier in the month we published the income figures of the top 20 most profitable athletic departments in the country. Then, early last week we learned the the University of Missouri lied about how much money it spent on the Tigers’ football program. Due to popular demand by our readers from those two posts, I recently gathered the spending figures of the top college football programs in the nation courtesy of BusinessInsider.com. Notice some big time names aren’t on the list, namely Oregon? The Ducks come in at 23. Surprisingly enough at 25 is Arizona.

  • I would have thought Tennessee would have made this list. Does our less than average coach pay take us off of it?

great question as i really expected UT in the top 10 - in the top 20 for sure - very surprised

  • Interesting that we are not on that list. Kind of goes along with that theory I heard about we get what we pay for. I hope that we prove some people wrong soon, but somebody said if you take Saban and his 4 million dollar salary he has 2 national championships and all of the money AL is bringing in right now supports that type of salary. Everybody thought it was a joke 5 years ago.

Where as at UT we paid much less for an unproven coach twice and we are losing ticket holders left and right and can't even fill up the best college football stadium in america any more.

Like I said I hope we can prove people wrong soon.
