Tenn at Miss State Predictions

Mississippi State is undefeated, ranked in the top 20 and playing at home. Those are three pretty good reasons the Bulldogs are 3-point favorites in this game.

I'm not suggesting that MSU shouldn't be ranked, but seeing as how UT has shown potential to be about half a dozen plays short of also being undefeated versus a substantially harder schedule, I'm thinking UT has a chance to make this one look like a cake walk.

Conversely, we've also shown tendencies that, if they reoccur, will bury us on the road.

    UT 49
    MSU 28

  • Msu fan here, guys i See y'all are sayin we haven't played anyone which is true i totally agree. I will say this, in every game we have played we basically played everyone in the 3 deep depth chart. Against troy we played over 60 players and they had an offense that snapped the ball every 10 seconds it seemed. We have played alot of younger guys to get them experience for the 2nd half of the season. Hopefully it pays off. I think we will play mainly our starters against y'all. To the posters that think Tennessee will hit a few deep bombs, i don't think it will happen. In the last 3 years i believe we have given up the least amount of big plays in the nation. We just don't give them up. We will bring lots of pressure against Bray and force him to make bad decisions. If this game was at Tennessee i don't think we could beat y'all. Being the game is at Davis Wade Stadium its gonna be one hell of a game and the cowbells will be a big factor. I think its gonna be different than you guys think. I also think msu wins a close one

(Give a reason to back up prediction)

sorry, I can't predict this group...

will the first half at Akron or the 4th quarter Florida or the 1st and 4th quarter Georgia show up or the team that played Georgia in the two middle quarters? or Florida for 3 quarters???

If it is the first, they will lose and if it is the second they will win.

that is about as good as I can do.. this team doesn't change from game to game, they change from quarter to quarter.. the only consistent thing is poor defense and poor kicking..

  • i think even tho we scored 44 on uga there was more to it.. two extremely short fields and a pick 6 so really our defense got us some of those points.. yes i know they played bad tho

Game will go into OT and possibly triple OT making the score 43-45.....

  • Miss St has only scored 30 once this year and won't do that to us. Our offensive line dominates and we jump out in front quickly, thus forcing them out if their game plan. Game over. 35-10 Big Orange.

  • Mississippi State: 24
    Vols: 21

Reasoning: Until they play a full 4 quarter ball game like they are capable of playing, it's really hard to pick Tennessee to beat anyone who's remotely good. Sadly, the next three games are all against good teams. Fortunately the last four are not.

We have done it 3 times and if you remember or if you didn't See the games we took a knee against auburn when we could have scored and took knees inside the Kentucky 2 yard line and could have scored 14 more against Kentucky. We have took our foot off the gas against every team we have played in the 2nd half of those games. No way Tennessee defense holds us to 10 points lol

I really have no clue who will win this game. I really dont know enough about Miss St other than banks is a baller. I think we run the ball more than Miss St thinks and hopefully win the game. The is a horrible matchup for our D imo, the last thing we need to see is a spread team. Good luck to you guys delta.

I'm not going to try to predict a score or who will win as I believe it could go either way. That said, I'm fairly confident UT scores more than 16. Sadly, I could see UT giving up more than 28 though.

This game is gonna be probably the most physical game of the season for Tennessee. I don't think it will be a high scoring game. I could be wrong though. It happens more than im right lol

How good is your guys run D? All I ever hear about is the secondary. And do you think your D-line can handle our pretty damn good o-line? Not being a homer just curious.

We are decent at stopping the run. We have some damn good linebackers and we have some pretty good linemen also. I think we have a scheme that will get pressure on the qb because we have such a good secondary. We will probably bring 6 every play

  • there is a solid chance we pick tyler russell off several times.. that kid is over rated and always has been here are his stats against South Alabama...Russell 13/27 171 yds 0td 1 int granted im sure he has had better games this season but that is still TERRIBLE

Tyler only has 1 int on via year. So i wouldn't expect him to be picked off alot. Also we ran the ball almost 65% of the time in the 2nd half and our back up qb dak Prescott played alot of snaps in that game

Tennessee plays Bama next week. No knock on MSU, but Bama and Florida are pretty tough in the trenches.

That's not including USC who might have the most dominant player on defense right now.

Russell definitely had an off game against South Alabama, but even with that factored in he's as solid of a qb as MSU's ever had. State has never been and likely never will be QB U. This game will come down to wether or not Bray gets pressured, plain and simple. If he's pressured a lot we win, if he's not the Vols take it.

5 guys in coverage? Yeah bring that on all game. Our O line is massive and great pass protectors so I can see bringing that many to cause a stir every now and then, but that won't work against us all game. If that's the case, I say we win big. I'll have to go back and watch yall's games to see how often you guys have done that and see if it's something to look forward to.

Nice football talk by the way. It's good to have a decent and well mannered opponent's fan on here peace

He barely gets touched. I don't think that will completely determine the game. I would say our running game is more important to help keep the State D honest. If I had to pick one thing determine this game it would be if Neal gets 100 UT wins.

It won't do any good to go back and watch our earlier games because we ain't showed nothin. We have played very vanilla on both sides of the ball. If you do go back and watch you will See a very different velo tomorrow
