The 12th man crown.

  • How can we go back to being a true homefield advantage. Lets start this year by making it our goal to be THE MOST hostile, intimidating, loudest, nastiest place to play a football game. I know some folks aren't gonna like this, but we need to get some of the old clappers and stiff bodies out of our house and replace them with some meaner, younger, and more energetic fans; especially at the big games when we need our beloved 12th man. I WILL NEVER FORGET an article wrote by John Adams back in 98 before the Florida game. He advised some of the older fans to sell their tickets to younger fans. It worked, and that Saturday night at OUR HOUSE was electric, an and i still dont believe OUR HOUSE had a higher decibal level. The 12th man crown belongs to us.

  • Actually it belongs to us

"The term "12th Man" was coined and marketed to represent the Texas Aggie fans after the 1922 Dixie Classic. While intellectual property laws recognize such common law uses in trademark disputes, the official registration of the mark was not filed by Texas A&M (U.S. Reg. No. 1948306) until September 1990, and later significantly bolstered by the passage of the Federal Dilution Trademark Act of 1995. This law allowed Texas A&M to use potential damage to the trademark through dilution as a justification in its lawsuit against the Seattle Seahawks."

I know I was just kidding. And you're right everybody uses it these days it won't surprise me if we lose the trademark.

  • you must be slow!!! And no disrespect intended, but friendly trashtalk. We all know that originally the term "12th man" belongs to A&M. But seriously dude, seriously, do you think that place can even compare to ROCKY TOP when we get mean and hostile. And if we want to, we can have a much bigger effect on a game, so we are a true "12th man". to the a&m fan.

  • guys, let"s step back and think about this for a moment- if you say that your own crowd gives your team a real home field advantage, it rings sorta hollow....it"s when your opponents start saying it about playing in your stadium that it really means something...that's the level that Neyland needs to get back to!twocents

important words "get back to". You are agreeing with me somewhat.

  • Tennessee's crowd has always been conditional, and I've learned to trust it when it matters.

I've never been to Neyland. But I will the first chance I get, seeing as we will only play there once every ten years or so.
