They're laughing as we hump Gruden's leg...

  • Reality: Recruiters from OTHER schools are the only beneficiaries of this mid-season "lynch mob orgy" over who should be Tennessee's next coach. Can we focus for just a minute on this season, this group of seniors, the task at hand...Hmmmm?

  • Root cause is Dooley's lack of progress (perceived or reality - does not matter) in turning the program around.

    Fair or not fair, doesn't matter. We win a couple of ballgames against UGA, Miss State or USC and no one has any cannon fodder against UT.

    Who said I wasn't rooting for him. There's a difference between rooting for him and believing in him. I don't think he can win here, but I won't root for us to lose. Not sure where you're getting at.

    I disagree. I think Dannyman is spot on, +1 for you. Frequently (always?) being negative about the current program does come off as whinning, not just "stating the facts".

  • You guys are going to LOVE Dooley come National Signing Day when Vonn Bell and Jalen Ramsey sign with Alabama.

    I won't stand for it. I'll pull for Tennessee, then I'll pull for Tennessee to fire its coach.

    If that gets me pitchforks and torches on here, so freakin be it.

    Anyway, the 0-5 SEC record is one tool for negative recruiting. That is what it is, and no one can change it. Another tool for negative recruiting would be pointing out how negative the fanbase is toward the program (albeit a select part of the fan base who can be so vocal it seems as if it is the whole fanbase). That is something we can influence. Why would anyone want to give recruiters another reason to look away from UT? I say play out the rest of the season like Dannyman said and put aside the lynch mob mentality.

    I bet if we hired a good coach, than hired Tee Martin back, we would have just as good of chance as Bama of landing these 2.

Champ. two years ago, and expect them to have the same difficulty with combating years of negative recruiting which can only be fueld by unsupportive fans that UT has had? You can get back with me if Auburn has another year or two like they are having so far to compare apples to apples and see what their recruiting is like then.

    I don't believe Dooley's recruiting issues, if they exists (I believe the current situation with all the rumors ain't helping), weren't and won't be caused by fans. The primary issue isn't even the overall stability or instability of the program. It's not even the 0-5 start in SEC play for the third consecutive year. The issue is twofold, a missed opportunity and a failure to meet expectations in the worse way. First, if Dooley and his staff had aced the end of the game pressure at LSU, I doubt we'd be dealing with all these garbage rumors. Second, if he beats Kentucky, which had been done 26 straight times before, I believe the number of fans daydreaming about Gruden or calling for Dooley to be replaced would be greatly reduced. Beat Kentucky, go to a bowl, go 8-5 and folks aren't ecsatic, but if you're Dooley you can sitdown without burning your britches and I suspect the whole negative recruiting bit would be less effective.
