Three Things: Vols-LSU postgame

Let’s look at three of the biggest keys — or, simply put, Three Things — that we discussed heading into Tennessee’s 82-72 win over LSU on Tuesday in Thompson-Boling Arena.

  • I know CM already said this, but this is really the team i expected (okay, hoped) to see. The three headed monster of Stokes, Golden and McRae is really hard to stop if those three play the way they have been playing. And, all credit to Jordy, but the head of the snake is Golden. Just seems like when he plays well, the whole team has a different feel and vibe to it. I cant articulate it, but you can certainly see it when you are watching. When he can knock down his jumper, and attack the rim, we are tough, tough, tough. I like the push we are getting from the role players to like JR and Moore. McBee finally starting to make the shots that he is here to make, and Hall doing his thing in the paint. Just keep it up guys! No telling where this road might end..

  • This team is really starting to gel together, I really hope we can keep stokes one more year and have him and maymon starting down-low.......scary good. IMO.

  • I wanted to come over here for Geaux247 to say that I was very impressed with the way Tennessee played last night. I think LSU played one of their better games this season and still fell 10 points short.

McRae was just silly and there was nothing LSU could do, especially with the best perimeter defender Charles Carmouche benched with what I can only imagine to be his knee tendinitis that he has struggled with throughout his career.

Im a little surprised LSU didn't press more either because they have had a lot of success coming back using it, but I think with Morgan and JOB with foul trouble and Carmouche not able to continue, it left him with little choice.

Either way wanted to congratulate yall on a great performance and I hope for no injuries the rest of the way for yall. peace

  • volsI've mentioned this last night, our confidence level is through the roof right now. To me this is another big part of our level of play.
I played a little ball when Iwas in HS and when my confidence was up the basket looked as big as a bushel basket.
    GO BIG ORANGE!!!

  • If this team finishes strong, then it will be primed for the return of Maymon next year. It's actually hard to imagine a better scenario. Two monsters down low and McRae slashing and scoring from all over. With the smothering defense they can play at times. If we get this combo guard and he can step in to start...watch out.
