Holy cow... its all over the place in and around Raleigh... I am in amazement that it hasn't grown legs on the national scene yet... but I guess that CBS article linked above is starting to smolder a bit hotter.

The only way to compare the magnitude of this in Tennessee terms.....

If you took UT and Vandy... Gave vandy tennessee's tradition and cockiness (expectations) to win and be dominant ...thus giving them the ultimate high and mighty attitude that Scholastically they are the top dog.. a public Ivy League school... and they were a beacon of how's its done right Athletically... never done anything wrong in recruiting or promoting the careeers of its student athletes with a top notch education and sterling athletic program.... it would come close but not really explain the level of condesention that UNC fans/alumni have toward other state schools in comparison to their own.

In actuality...you would have about a Tenth of a percent of how UNC carries itself... promotes itself..... and brainwashes their fans and alumni into thinking they are the best public university in the nation when it comes to the combination of sports prowess and Scholastic endevors.

Let me preface the above by stating I used to be a closet NCSU hoops fan, my uncle played there and the valvano 83 championship thing caught me when I was eat up hoops as a kid. But having always had blood that runeth orange... I moved to raleigh 10 years ago with a certain amount of excitement. It was shortly ruined by the pechulant disgust of how NC State fans complain about everything...and were toiling in the shadows of UNC and Duke.. .in just about everything.

I had a chance to go to a grad program in UNC's School of Public health... When hearing of this... my uncle told me he would never talk to me again if I enrolled... and he was serious !!!! Lucily I got some advice from a co-worker on how pricey and over rated the program was.. so... my uncle and I are still talking !!!

UNC torments and looks down upon NC State and ECU fans/ alumni sooooo much that it has created an almost unbelievable "red headed stepchild" syndrom (as I like to call it) to the point that all of this scandal was uncovered by a State Fan!!!!! That little statement says volumes.

For proof... just take a look at the forums/ chat rooms on Scout and Rivals.... top of the list and threads is this scandal.... last check one topic had 40 pages and over 2000 comments.

Subsequently... The basketball team playing over seas... or the UT / NC State game.... was way down on the list... with less than 200 -300 views and very few comments.

Its crazy hate over here.

I would have compared this to state of things in Alabama.... but lets be realistic. They have always cheated down there... and been really proud of it. Plus matters of education as it relates to sports is just a laughable subject matter to which reading comprehension is beyond most fans and alumni reach !!!! Thus UT and Vandy seemed a better way to go...

hahaha classic. good ole fashion mascot stealing...ahh those were the days. Speaking of which that has to be the dumbest mascot in college sports. Tar Heels ... .Goats ???? Then if you look at some of the drawings of their mascot they have on hats or gear etc... the damn thing has horns like a Ram... ? Just idiots! hahaha Im getting worked up like a Red Headed NC State fan !!!
