Unforced turnovers torturing UT

It’s anything but a mystery at this point, but it’s certainly worth repeating. Tennessee is struggling to take care of the ball away from Thompson-Boling Arena.

I watched that game against Arkansas and the majority of turnovers were not unforced. Arkansas did a great job of pressuring the ball.

He just isn't a D1 player. He is to slow. He can get the ball across half court and that's it. He looks more smooth with the ball in his hands than others they trot out there to play PG, but he's a huge liability on defense.

lack of good handlers. Most teams have at least one guy with a superior handle who can reliably breakd down a press. We dont have that.

Coach Martins goals are to have the same amount of turnovers as assist. That works in high school but most coaches want more assist then turnovers. No wonder we don't value the ball or push for easy baskets.

Oh jeez is this true? That is horrible if so. I don't know how this could be right.

I think he was saying that they have to be at least even with that comment. They also had 8 assists and 20 turnovers on Saturday and he said that they have to turn that around. Any coach who knows how to dribble doesn't want turnovers.

I honestly wish stokes could develop a plan at attacking the rim much faster once he gets the ball. I honestly don't think that he really has any idea what he wants to do with the ball when he catches it with his back to the basket. Allowing for defenses to set up for him, doubling him etc... plus he is very turnover prone in that situation because he is unsure if he is going to attack the rim or draw the double team and dish it off. Hopefully they work on this more in practice in the coming weeks and get him a game plan set for what he needs to be doing on the offensive end on the block.

Martin says the same thing week in and week out. Play hard, get to the rim, take care of the ball. When are they going to start doing this. His defense will not win in this league. You have to outscore the other team and the Vols can't do that. One of the worst shooting teams I have ever seen.

27 points by ARK from turnovers. If you could get half those turnovers back and half the points, we win fairly easily. I am not saying it's an easy thing to do--obviously this team does not do anything easily--but it is significant.
