I was watching Oregon last night and started thinking about how good an orange metallic helment would look with the power T on the back. I'd like to see us try something different to help generate some momentum. We have some of the most modern and cutting edge facilities on earth and yet we present ourselves on the field as a carryover from the 50's. Like it or not, how the team looks matters to kids these days and we need to keep up with the times. Cool and modern uniforms will catch kids eyes much like the checkerboard end zone has done. Oregon has done a fantastic job in marketing their "O" and color scheme as a brand. We should do the same with the "T" and orange and white. However, it won't happen by using the same packaging that we have used for 50 years.

Maryland started changing uniforms last couple of years. I don't think it has helped them that much. Oregon is directly involved with Nike. They have a good coach and facilities. These are the things that truly matter. Alabama, Florida, LSU, and the majority of the SEC get it. Uniform looks don't get you to the NFL. Coaching and facilities help with these more than uniforms.

My feeling have always been stay traditional. With that being said, I do think we could "tweek" the uniforn and stay in that vane. Examples: Adding silver into the uniforms like: Changing helmet color to a matte silver finish, use either orange power T trimmed in white, or power T with checkerboard print, and use orange face mask. On uniforms, add silver pants for home, home jerseys would stay traditional orange, but use silver numbers with white trim, or white numbers with silver trim either way. Away jerseys white with orange numbers and silver trim, same for pants. ORRRRR......to be more modern away jerseys could be silver, orange numbers, with white trim/accents....Just some thoughts about things that would not be too wild, and stray too far from traditional. Just thinking lol...

I still think the orange metallic helmet for a big game would be epic. I'm 56 and as conservative as they come but there is a reason I buy a new car every few years. It has new styling and a fresh look. Hell, even Notre Dame and Navy have updated their looks. Times change. So should we.

If were being traditional the original color was black starting in 1911. We didnt adopt orange until 1927.
With that said I don't want to go as far as Oregon. I honestly don't think they repeated a combination this year, but I can't prove it. Combat unis are out too, sorry. I think wearing an alternate once or twice a year is fine. Don't advertise it, play it up and turn it into motivation for the other team. Don't try a blackout, white out or any other gimmick, we proved tonight we cant pull off anything like that.
Im good with black or sliver variations, but we have to change the helmet to match....black unis with a white helmet is like wearing dress socks with your tennis shoes. Functional yes, motivating no! And while Im on a roll, I would like to see a orange helmet with a white T.

Plus, the orange of the checkerboards do not match the orange of the Power T. Two shades of orange on a helmet won't work, IMO.
I agree with frosty and denver. Our helmets are classic, among the best in college football. I would not object to an occasional black jersey or even a one-time throwback. But I think our helmets should not be altered.
