I remember I almost fell out of my chair when the Vols came out in the black jerseys after they warmed up in orange. What a momentum builder that was and the fans went wild. It set the tone for a big victory over SC that memorable night. In todays SEC, teams are so competitive that even the smallest edge can mean the difference between victory and defeat. I say to the Vol coaches---don't be afraid to try something new or different with the uniforms. Football times are changing and the Vols have to change and evolve too, or be left behind.

I used to be a PURE traditionalist about the UT program, from offensive system to uniforms, to pre-game, I wanted everything to be the same, but I have had a change of heart.....
I used to believe it was a badge of honor; the plainer the uniform, the more steeped in tradition the program I watched seemed to be (Nebraska, Penn State, Alabama, Tennessee leap to mind), and thought that we made our statement ON THE FIELD, and not on our uniforms. God Forbid we would add a 3rd color to our scheme......
...but we have to adapt to change to remain relevant, otherwise we would still be running the single wing and riding to games in Horse & Buggy.
It will not kill the program to have our own version of Nike Combat uniforms, and if younger recruits & fans are drawn to the program as a result, then I am for it.
We see thousands of different T-shirts, jerseys, orange camo-pants (still love those), overalls, etc., on Gameday, I see NO GOOD reason why the team should wear the same uniforms weekend in and weekend out.
I used to worry if they even added a leg-stripe or changed the lettering style, that any type of modification to the uniform would destroy out football tradition, but I now believe that type of thinking to be totally wrong.
We should be willing to move forward while still holding onto our core of traditional beliefs, JMO
GO VOLS!
