Will Muschamp walked into a place already stocked with 4-5* talent that was used to winning.
Sadly, UT is not.

He still had to change the culture which is why they struggled year 1. They went from a finesse spread offense with Demps and Rainey to a power offense with Gillislee in 1 year.

And you believe everything espn writes??? Espn also wrote recently that strong was our new head coach and that West Virginia would play for the natl. championship. Just saying

Smart will bring us instant recruits, but if Butch can win he will be able to recruit also. I honestly don't care which one we get between these two

Haha now I won't argue with you in that Muschamp is wayyyy over the top intense. But if you asked me is Kirby more like Muschamp or Chavis, the answer is Muschamp.

You don't sound very, well, UT happy. We DID aim for the top. Repeatedly. And we missed. You know that if you've been following this search at all. If we throw a ton of money at the coaches and they still won't come, we can't do anything about it.

So you stop spending money on the team until you see whether the new coach wins? Fine; that's fair and reasonable, after the failures of the last 5 years. The world won't end if you choose to watch from the recliner for the next 2 years (we won't know what we've got in Jones until year 2 at the earliest, IMO).

And Mike Hamilton would have hired a search firm and not spent as much time chasing the high profile hires with the Brinks truck full of money. Hart struck out, but he tried. Hammy would have hired Jones or Smart last Saturday. I'm not defending either, but I am saying they're different.

Looking at Auburn site over last few days, they eliminated Smart for a on a couple points - like Saban he wants full control and also wants to stay w/ 'Bama thru the NC game next month, probably hurting his chances.

FWIW I would rather have Smart than Jones. More upside IMO and we need someone who can recruit, and has proven he can recruit in the south. Saban has said he has only trusted two people to run his defense, Smart and Muschamp. IMO those two are heads above the rest of the Saban coaching tree. I'll get behind either one but would be much more excited about a Smart hire...no pun intended. There is a reason so many teams have been after Smart the last few years and so many were after Muschamp (including us when we hired Doolander) until FL finally lured him away from Texas.
