The CheckerBoard

I got really skeptical when I heard Sunseri saying, "We throw it all at them--You know what I mean?--and let them kind of spin for a while. Then they start to get it. You know what I'm sayin? They start to put pieces together as they go..."

That is simply NOT HOW TO COACH. Starting the players with the feeling of being lost and overwhelmed--THAT'S EXACTLY HOW THEY LOOKED ALL YEAR! COINCIDENCE????

So, I am not saying that the players were great and the coaches sucked, but I am saying that the coaches sucked in the way they introduced an entirely new defensive system.

These new guys get it: introduce the system slowly, build comfort and confidence. Don't let the mind tie up the feet. We will not be an elite defense this year, but I firmly believe we will be much better. And we will see better performance by our players even when we get down. Looking forward to it.

The change has begun. This is a Vols program that I truly have big hopes for!!
