Vandy Players Flip Out On Jonathan Ford

  • Can't believe some of the stuff they've been tweeting about him. It just shows that the personality of a coach truly does filter down to the team:

  • +1 I read this earlier. Jayson Swain said they're acting like Cleveland fans when LeBron went to Miami. I'd say that's a pretty accurate comparison.

Very comparable reactions, except they're not fans...they're current players. If I was another coach, I'd use this against them in recruiting all day long.

Its not a stupid question until you ask it.

  • Also, if I was James Franklin I'd make them all run until they puke.

Very true. I used to not even care about Vandy at all. They were just insignificant and all they did was lose. They beat us one time and now I truly can't stand them. They're ignorant and cocky SOB's.

You know, it is sad, and it shows an unreal level of arrogance. Ford just got offered by his dream school, and the Vandy players berate him about throwing away his future. The guy might have the chance to play for us, where we can offer a much greater level of resources, and a track record of putting guys in the league, or for Auburn, where he's always dreamed of playing.

He's free to make that choice, and should be able to do so without harassment from Vandy's players. Whoever he plays for, I hope he flatbacks some of them. I'm pulling for the kid now.

  • Really shows the level of quality people Franklin is bringing into Vandy.

It's a shame, I couldn't imagine treating anyone that way. Be mad at him all you want, don't express it to him or publicly.

  • It really is just baffling to me how some Vandy fans and players are handling this dose of success. Just baffled. I'm not even upset about it - I don't think they are a threat to UT in the long run. I'm just blown away by how arrogant and just plain mean they are sometimes. There is a serious inferiority complex around that team. They had a great season, they deserve to be proud of their program, but my goodness, they're like a hungry stray dog that finally found a piece of steak and is about to jump anyone that gets near.

I completely agree that the attitude of the head coach has trickled down. Franklin has done a great job of getting his players to buy in to his system and play hard for each other, but at some point, this goes back to him. He can't control every tweet his players send, but when your players' hateful reactions start making news, if you don't send a message, you're encouraging it. I would never want him coaching my team.

  • Can't wait till we run all over their as*** in Knoxville this year! And I hope Johnathan Ford runs that one punk over. They have one good season in 100 years, 5 winning seasons all time, 5 bowls, 0 national Championships, 0 SEC championships, 0 SEC East titles, 0 all Americans, 573-578 all time record, 1 9 win season since 1915 and they act like they are amazing and say history doesn't matter. Laughing stock of the SEC. And a 24-79 overall record against UT. #anchordeez........ Ok my ranting is over.

  • He should definitely commit to UT just so he can truck-stick those idiots the next four years.

I agree with every word. They are very much embarrassing themselves at this point.

When you've been at the top and the bottom of this league you quickly learn how to appreciate the good times, and it's very clear this is their first time seeing some success.

If they think they're immune to a heavy dose of reality and humility, they've got another thing coming. Everyone gets it in this league, and they're only making themselves a bigger target.

  • Here's another example of the new culture there, from Jashon Robertson, 2014 Vandy commit:

    @VandyBound51
Butch jones stopped by to day..wast of gas #anchordown #VandyNation turn up

I know that's not the worst thing anyone has said, but to call out a coach by name and say he is wasting his gas by paying you a visit, that's disrespectful. Dude, get over yourself. He probably wasn't there to just see you either. Alex Bars is a much better prospect at your school. He may even be able to spell "today" and "waste".

Seriously, you can't make this stuff up. They just keep delivering gems like this.

  • The bottom line is they don't know how to act because they've never been there before.
