Very disappointed but still kinda optimistic about the season

  • I walked in to Neyland Stadium thinking this was our year to end the Florida streak. It was a great fight for about 3 quarters as everyone witnessed until the wheels fell off. The difference that stood out to me the most between the two teams was speed. On the morale shattering 80 yard TD run, the Gator back simply ran away from the Vols. Teague had an angle, but the speed was too much. Likewise on the dagger pass, we were burnt by speed.

On the other side of the ball, our stud WRs could not get the separation that was enjoyed in the first two games. That, and a couple of disappointing drops was the big difference maker. I still think this team can be successful and I hope there will be some serious soul searching because the season still has so much football to be played.

The true test of this team will be how they respond. Going to be very interesting in Big Orange Country the next few days.

  • It stings. It hurts. And I'm pissed. But, we have many chances to respond this season. I just hope we grow from this.

  • I have zero ability to be optimistic. I feel like this was the most winnable of the 5 really tough games on the schedule, and we tanked it.

I don't know Crockett, I like to think that Florida may be a little better than we gave them credit for. After all, despite the dip their program has taken, they still are stockpiled with elite talent. I did think that this was one of the more winnable games, particularly at home with the phenomenal environment that was enjoyed up until the 80 yard run.

Realistically, as painful as it is to admit, the trip to Athens may not be too pleasant and Bama could probably beat the Packers right now. BUT, South Carolina could be vulnerable and Mizzou is not looking like world beaters.

As I stated earlier, it is going to be interesting to see how the team responds to this latest setback, or dare I say it, the most recent "scars".

Oh I wasn't even including the Mizzou game. I was talking about the MSU game on the road.

Florida at home...by the end of the season...will look like an enormous missed opportunity, I think.

I love how there is no respect even after that. Remember most coaches see progress at year two. This florida team is clearly different this year. Doesn't mean Tenn is bad at all...but uf trained all year for this exact game...win the fourth. Heard it all season. It came true three straight games. Good game but disrespecting a team who got 555 yards is a little ridiculous.

It isn't about no respect. It's about the reality. Home game versus a team that was beatable.

Kinda have to disagree with you here. While I agree that they were beatable and that if Bray hadn't been worse than in any start that he's made when healthy, and if Hunter and Patterson hadn't both dropped balls including probable TD by Patterson and drive killers by Hunter we could have won and most nights when they play up to capabilities we do win. That said UF is Greatly improved we watched Driskel grow up into a quality SEC QB and they are IMO the clear favorite to win the East. Missed opportunity perhaps, best chance of the five to win not even close.

  • If bray stays you guys will be great next year. Even if he doesn't you return a ton and it takes a year to get a new defense in. You guys stuffed the run up the middle all game it was just mis comms on the outside killed you. Give it awhile. Georgia switched to 3-4 ad they sucked on d for awhile...now they are really good with the scheme.

  • I watched from television, but it was obvious that the entire team quit in the third quarter. It was extremely depressing to witness. The worst part of it was that tennessee had the talent on the field to win and could not believe in themselves.
