Viewpoints of Former UT Players on "The Search"

  • I'm sure many if you guys have friends who are former players & what not. I have a few myself, but they are following this search very closely & this hire will determine how much they continue to support the program they love. Without naming names one in particular said he hasn't been keeping up with coaching search of lately, but if UT hires in his words "some lame coach" he will never be associated with UT or go to a game until his kids go there. Many former players feel this way & are feeling they are being "distanced" from the program they helped build. We all an agree that the latest revelations about Dooley show he really wasn't the right guy for the job, but when you have the higher ups in the school who reflect the same qualities then where do you go?

  • News story in the Chattanooga Times-Free Press where 37 Chattanooga-area high school coaches were interviewed about Dooley's recruiting techniques and he was universally slammed for essentially ignoring area talent. Even the coaches that are big UT fans said Dooley was incredibly socially inept and in many cases flat out rude.

  • just read the article...it kind of makes you mad to think that Dooley sullied the UT reputation in one of the area's that he should have made a priority.

  • Dooley was a very bad coach on many levels, however he has built a roster with a solid foundation. If the right coach is hired he will pull some of the game changers and our beloved vols will be back in a couple seasons. Stay patient big orange nation we will be back.
