Vols Staff: Have the Vols considered Kirby?

Not saying I would want him to come to UT but I understand what UT is going through with a tough coaching change transition. Bama has been there far too much in the late 90's and early 2000's. Why not Kirby? Great coach, great recruiter, has a rapport with most of the UT staff and athletic director. Will bring in a great defensive scheme(which is what UT needs badly) and take over the state in recruiting. Plus he would love to take an EAST division job in the SEC. So has UT even put out the feelers?

Thanks for swinging by... When we fired Dooley our AD had a press conference and he made it a point to say the next HC would've had previous Head coaching experience...
With that said I love Kirby. He is a stud recruiter and I love his enthusiasm. I have a question back to you, would he even take the UT Job?

If he seriously was considering AU why would he not consider UT with a bigger fan base and more supportive atheltic department full of Bama ties. Plus he would be the ONLY big time college team in the state. I think it would be a perfect situation.

Think Smart may get some consideration now that the search parameters may change, but not sure that fans would welcome more Alabama/Saban ties right now. The last couple didn't seem to work out well. Not my opinion there, just an observation of feelings of our members.

I've heard Smart might not be that interested in UT, but that he would have been really interested in Florida State if Jimbo had taken the UT job.
I wouldn't call that ironclad reporting. It's just something I heard last night.

Smart is my biggest nightmare as a coach. The Saban/Bama ties need to stop.
