  • That's a pretty good offer list, kid must be able to play. How many spots do we have, I know we have another big weekend of visitors next week and I would assume the same the week after, some 4 and 5 star guy's at that. Ive seen we can sign 27 in this class just wondering if we get some good fortune and guy's start committing how many spots would we hold open if any with Lawson,Collins,Bellemy,Green,Bell and a few others waiting till NSD to announce.

  • I have some dumb questions about recruiting:
    1. How many recruits are we allowed to sign a year? I know some teams like T A&M have like 35 commitments. I know they only signed like 18 or something last year, so I guess that frees some up?
    2. When scholarship players are dismissed or transfer, what happens to those scholarships? Does that mean you can sign more on NSD? If you can't, how can you use those "empty" scholarships? Sorry to get off topic, but since we were talking about scholarships, I had to ask.

  • In the SEC you can only sign 25 per year. If you sign less than that the year before you can backcount guys to that year. Thats why A&M has so many this year. The key number is 85 players on scholarship for each season.

  • Good size and very fast if 4.5 is real. So, why only three stars? Can he wrap up? Shed a blocker? Can he move laterally or does he just have downhill speed? Penn State obviously has their own issues, but it has usually boasted solid LB's. I'd love to hear an analyst weigh in if Walton is high on us after this weekend. Vols!!

  • Exactly. I would say that we can't hold any spots for anyone because I'm probably wrong, usually am, but I haven't seen a lot of top recruits that are 90-100% sure they're coming to UT. Most seem to be interested, or something to that effect, but from what I can tell all of the elite want to go to the schools that are winning now and not schools with potential. I say we have to take the best that we can get absolutely but I don't think we can bypass someone who's good and wants to play for UT to wait on a decision from someone else. Once we start winning they'll want to come to us.
