At No. 26 in our pro-style quarterback rankings, Ferguson was the highest available left on the board.
On June 14 ...
Quarterbacks have flown off the board as the building blocks to teams' classes.

I think this is a fantastic get for Tennessee, especially this late in the cycle, as funny that sounds.
So many quarterbacks are off the board, and Ferguson represented great value at this stage because he’s comparable to a lot of those.
He is always one of the best performers at camps and has a moxie about him that I feel is one of his strengths as a quarterback that other prospects might not have.
Ferguson is a good athlete/scrambler who essentially is a high risk-reward player. Lives on the edge, so to speak, with his decisions, but makes plenty of plays to override the miscues.

Thanks for the information, Paul. Loved this young man's interviews leading up to his commitment, and am EXCITED he's a VOL! It is nice to have some depth at the position so that our coaches can start molding these young men...and they will have the time to do so. Go Vols!!!

Just got to watch his video for the first time. I'll say this - the kid is fearless in the pocket. He hangs in and makes tough throws and takes hits.
Lots of throwing on the run, which he has the arm strength for. Lots of staring down receivers (he is, after all, a HS QB). It is hard to tell a lot from these videos because you don't get to see the bad throws, but the passes he gets through are pretty impressive at times.
