Little more than one month from National Signing Day, Derek Dooley’s Tennessee football staff was dealt a big blow.

I'm usually a even-keeled see the big picture Vol Fan, but this HURTS!
From Carolina to Tennessee, Rocky Top is always Home Sweet Home to Me!!!
Leaving for a lateral move at a school with less tradition then ut... Yet another embarrassment...
We need to look for a SEC defensive minded coach for our D. I hope its a big name.
Makes sense. Oregon roommates and at least one a native of Washington. Also, Washington has a pretty strong tradition of their own that has just fallen on a few tough years. Sarkisan has the offense going and this will get the defense going.
I suppose this will determine who committed because of the University, not the coaches. Wes, I know it's early, do you know what DC names might be on the board? Do you think Dooley promotes Thompson to maintain some sort of consistency in defensive scheme?
I'm not one of these doom and gloom Vol fans, and in fact they really piss me off. With that said, what in the hell is going on in East Tennessee?!!? This is TENNESSEE, and now we are losing our coaches to the powerhouses of Washington and Washington State?!? There's no way Dooley survives this...I mean, what promising Defensive Coordinator will want to come to Tennessee when apparently Dooley is quite possible out the door next season...or much sooner?!!? I'm just sick over this!
I was never a fan of Wilcox's defenses , that being said the loss of Sirmon will be tough to overcome. I do think this will give Dooley a chance to tap into the Saban line a little more or maybe just promote Thompson to DC switch from the 4-3 to 3-4 get more of these young LB's on the field and maybe lure Al Wilson back to coach LB's. Wilcox drove me insane it seemed like every game we where giving the recievers an 8 - 10 yard cushion then trying to play catch up that would work fine if all your db's are 4.3 / 4.4 type guys and lets face it ours are not , I would prefer to see us to go more like Georgia has the last 2 years .
This is what happens when you hire a mid-major coach witha losing record. Dooley is on shaky ground and these coaches are leaving to a) get close to home and b) to get security because they see the future. Whatever the deal, this is not good. Watch the recruits bolt and Dooley make a quick hire. I do not like this instability.
This freaking sucks!
Ok....everyone relax. Turn over of staff this time of the year is typical. Neither of these are a surprise considering both of their strong ties to the northwest. The only people that think this is due to Coach Dooley being on the hot seat are uneducated short sighted fans that do not understand the rebuilding taking place and the time associated with it. Coach will get this season to show progress and the next to compete for a championship. The key thing to watch here related to the 3 open positions is who is hired to fill the jobs.
Go Big Orange! I'll hang up and listen to your comments...
This is what happens when you can't get a more committed D Coordinator to begin with. Am I right in remembering that Dooley wanted the Clemson DC first but that he woudl not come because he did not like Hamilton? Wilcox has prob wanted to go back out West for a while now... I'm not sure why he went to Washington at this time and that bothers me... But lets not act like us losing him is because of Dooley or because TN has lost its luster...
This is new to TN because Fulmer had a career DC at TN with Chavis. And he had very comitted guys who usually had no Head Coaching desires as Assistants. This is normal my guess at most places. Stil bothers me and I can't even enjoy these good games on TV!
Who can we get as replacements ?
Hire Raheem Morris. He should be a great recruiter on the college level. Plus he is unemployed.
