  • Sounds fairly good sized to be a safety, 6'3 205lbs. Hope we can get him.

I'm sure 88 will respond but I agree with him. Question is will he grow out of the safety position or will he grow enough to be an effective LB. Right now he's a tweener. I think he will ultimately be a LB. He will need at least another 30 pounds and will that drop his speed which is already marginal to be really good. JMO

You are probably right but I would still worry about any loss of speed since he would need it on the outside.

I understand your concern, but remember, college strenght and conditioning coaches can also work with players to improve their speed too. In fact, I saw where coach Jones said that our emphasis would be on speed and explosiveness.

  • Yes, I like his size for safety if he has the skill set. Not incredibly fast, but he's an articulate young man. I bridge that into thinking he could be an intelligent player. Nothing replaces speed--it's true. But even the fastest athlete will give up huge plays if he plays dumb ball.

Maybe I read too much into it, but he's a high school senior football player using the word "comfortability". I know college grads who struggle to pronounce that word fluidly in everyday speaking. Again, I am all for speed, but I also like to see smart football. Last year's defense, for whatever reasons, looked so lost most of the time.

Ball is a very bright, respectful kid. Wouldn't reach too much into him using that word.
