Vols' search changing course

    South Carolina, when the HC position opens up, is a much more desirable job than Tennessee.

    BTW how'd those "better recruiting classes" work out for ya'll. Atleast 5 years before ya'll are relevant again. At which point High School kids will not have known the last time Tennessee was relevant.

    trolls.... That being said, enjoy the ride that ya'll are on right now. It doesn't last forever as things WILL recycle through and UT will NOT be where we are at this time. Alabama, UGA, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida.... we've all been down and right now we are still down, but we WILL be back and when we are (could be 2 years, could be 10 years) WATCH OUT!! GBO!!

Suck up a potentially horrible season. 3. Start putting out feelers for new head coaches pretty much as soon as the season starts. 4. Get the head coach you want, possibly arranged early in the season and announced the instant the regular season is over. Alternatively, Fulmer pulls a Snyder, coaches for another couple of years, and we name a "coach in waiting" like FSU did with Jimbo Fisher.

    This would be the equivalent of "punting" for another year, but the alternative is getting a mediocre coach who mires us in another 3 yrs of mediocrity and puts us back in the same position in 2015.

    let's get our guy and get behind him and get going...sooner than later.
    to me your plan is a combo of recyle and reverse. no more sucking it up. I want to be competitive now and I am telling you one of these guys still out there can do that.
    so what we did't get Strong. do we really want to pour 8 years and approx. $30M into a guy from the Big East? reall do we even if he has SEC experience, again so what? that does not mean anything at the end of the day. we have to get over not locking up Strong. why wasn't he a prime candidate for UF?....didn't even flick in Foley's mind. Why is that? and why is it he wasn't an SEC coach already?

    time for everyone to move on, stop bashing Hart and the adminstration (even if there is issues to be resolved - stop throwing gas on the fire), and realize perhaps we have been given a blessing missing on Strong and Gundy and we just don't know it yet.

  • Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, LSU,Texas A&M. Need I say more? You need to move on, The glory years are over!!! Bring anybody but Petrino and 6 wins a year are the best it's going to be. Nobody wants to sing that dumbass Rocky Top every saturday for 4 years. The best recruits in the south are going to one of the above schools or Florida State, The Texas kids are going to Texas or A&M. Hell the kids in North Carolina and Virginia are going with Fedora or Virginia you guys better wake up!! Hart can't sell the school to a coach how you gonna sell it to a top 50 recruit?

    For the love of God already, Tressel is worse than Patrino. He received a 5-year show-cause penalty from the NCAA. If we hired him today it would months upon months before the NCAA ruled whether or not we had implemented enough policies and checks to ensure that he could not make another mistake in his life. He could sneeze during a press conference and get our program heavy sanctions for years to come. The guy made up some great teams, but he was horrific in the ethics department and he was a habitual rule breaker.

  • If I am Tennessee, I look at LSU offensive coordinator Greg "Stud" Studwara. Look at the OL's that guy has produced at LSU. Once named the OC, the LSU offense took off big time. He is a damn strong football coach and has turned down both the Ohio State offensive coordinators job, the Wisconsin head coaching job and several other major OC and HC jobs. You want a damn strong football coach in Knoxville, the first call should be to the Stud.

  • Sorry, folks. But if I was Dave Hart, I would NOT consider re-hiring Fulmer. I always liked Fulmer, but the Vols struggled too often under him. Yes, he got more wins for UT than Weasel Boy or Dooley. But, most of his wins were against teams that were not even in the top twenty. And, the Vols often struggled to win THOSE games. And, on more than one occassion, I`ve seen the Vols lose to those inferior teams. Yes, Fulmer could recruit. But then he didn`t do a very good job of developing the talent that UT signed. The Vols had more than one recruiting class in the top ten nationally. And, I recall a couple in the top five that Fulmer signed. But, the Vols still struggled too often. It really hurts my pride to say this, but I can`t help but believe that Spurrier could have coached some of the recruiting classes that Fulmer signed, and he could have done much more with them. And, Fulmer`s last recruiting class didn`t even finish in the top twenty. I would try to hire Petrino before I`d take another chance on Fulmer. Sorry, folks, but that`s the way I see it. I`m sick and tired of seeing mediocre Vols` teams get kicked around on the field. Fulmer just wouldn`t be the right man for the job.
