Wes would UT ever consider hiring Fulmer back. It worked out very well for Kansas State and coach Snyder. He still wants to coach and has respect of high school coaches every where!

May be time to seriously consider Petrino. Give him 2 mil and another 1.5 to go find the best DC he can lay hands on. Even if he is a jerk and cheating husband, he is a damn good football coach.

So far it's fail fail fail, just sign Butch Davis and lets get a proven winner with baggage and see if it works.

Staff, do you guys have any inkling why we've been turned down by so many coaching targets? Is it Hart? Is it Cheek? Has the program really fallen so low that it is not considered as good a job as Auburn, Oklahoma State, or Louisville?

I'll just throw this out there: there were rumblings about Bill Cowher with the UNC search back when they hired Butch Davis. Any interest or news on the UT front? Next to Gruden, he might be the best slam-dunk hire in the "former NFL coaches-turned-commentator" category.

i agree. hard to believe gruden would turn it down if you give him what he asked for. he said he was more comfortable in the NFL.
if he could hire the coaches he needs would that make him more comfortable in college ball?
i do want to know one thing though,what the HELL does cheek know about hiring a football coach or any other coach for that matter?

Aww hell, since we are getting into high school coaching territory, how about Rick Bowers from Ensworth in Nashville? Three straight DII-AA championships with Ensworth. Prior to that he won a couple with MBA. And he is a hell of a coach (I actually played for him WAYYYYY back in the day when he coached 7th and 8th grade ball at MBA in Nashville). As long as we are desperate, might as well throw everything at the wall to see what sticks...

If Hart continues with his current stupendous track record this makes the most sense. Go make Vandy give Franklin an even bigger raise, embarrass us some more, and waste another day or two.

He's the perfect candidate.
