Vols visit seals deal for Ferguson

UT's potential quarterback of the future now feels 100 percent convinced his future will be with the Vols, but Riley Ferguson said his role as a recruiter has just started.

  • I think North would rather catch passes from Mitch Trubisky. Hope I'm wrong. If Fedora pulls those two to go with Q Davis and Bernard, UNC could have one of the most explosive offenses in the country in a couple of years and go on a BCS run.

Hopefully, North will consider who is on our 2014 radar and realize that he could spark a charge like that for us if he chooses UT.

  • Also hope North realizes how well he and Pig would compliment each other, that Marlin Lane is no slouch RB, and that there is a lot of talent backing up the nations #1 OL.

  • looks like Quinn is a vol also, from what I just read on the regular site.

  • Really hope we get Franklin and Ferguson. Always can use depth and Franklin is a totally different kind of QB. His film is impressive. That dude has serious speed.

Thanks vf28, that's good info and I hope you are wrong about North's preferences too. Fedora is a good coach and if the recruiting is lining up like that, then it starts to make sense that North could see himself staying in the home state. Still, I would like to think that there is some sense of momentum with UT that he could be attracted to as well. We'll see.

I know I am excited about some of our 2014 recruits. Who are you thinking of on the radar?

    Vols!!

  • Tennessee needs this pipeline to the NC talent. I, for one, am tired of seeing Cleveland County's best heading south to the swump. Glad to see Riley is a VFL and taking up the cause of recruiting. A soldout kid exudes a great deal of enthusiasm and that can be pretty contagious. Nice report Wes. +1 GO VOLS!

Going to be interesting to see how the QB spot plays out in 2013 season. UT will have 3 scholarship Qb's only 1 with game experience and most of that was in 2011. A new spread type scheme that needs some one like Franklin to QB. Yes more to come

I think any of the QB's on our roster plus Ferguson can run the spread. This is not the spread as it was run by Florida. This spread could have even been adapted to Bray. It looks more like a west coast offense than anything else. Bottom line is it's very adaptable.

Todd Kelly Jr, Berry twins, Jalen Hurd, Deshaun Watson, Demarre Kitt, Dillon Bates, Jalen Tabor, Aaron Medley, Khairi Clark, Myles Autry, Kevin Mouhon, Alex Bars, Andrew Brown, Nick Chubb.. that's maybe half of the elite recruits we have a good shot with.

The 2014 class will be special, especially if we can get the legacy and in-state guys on board early.

Honestly.I dont think he will be catching balls from Riley Ferguson.Riley is quality but, he isnt the starter by any means. North will be immediatley.I think Nate Peterman will be the starter if you watch his highlights he is so much more polished than Ferguson.Im not saying Riley isnt good Im just saying he wont be starting at least for a possible two seasons.I honestly dont think his commitment will have any impact on if North comes to TN.He was either coming before this visit or he wasnt. This trip just reassured his decision.

I think you may be right about Ferguson but don't dismiss Worley as the starter. He has the tools and unlike what some think he can move well enough to function extremely well in this offense.

Very true. A QB can help alot on the recruiting front. Only wish he had been using his influence to recruit since the git go.

Either way glad to have Ferguson.
