Vonn Bell

  • I really wish he would have committed early. Especially if he grew up a Vol fan he had to know how this would feel to the fans. I don't wish him bad luck or anything, but this is definitely not in the UT spirit for him.

Regardless we have a decent class and I feel good about these new VFL'ers. Go big orange!

  • If Bell had a chance to come to UT and be a part of our rebirth and instead chose to play for Urban Meyer, than he isn't and never was a Tennessee fan.

  • I'm just flabbergasted and shocked about this whole situation. Where did Ohio State come from? Alabama has been recruiting him heavily for a year. I figured they would be the ones to beat. I don't think OSU showed up until around December, if I remember correctly. Then all of a sudden Bama falls out of the picture and it's us and Ohio State? Kid grew up a Vol, so you figure we'd have the edge. Then picks Ohio State.

I'm learning a stark lesson about recruiting insanity today.

You can thank Dooley for that. The old staff really screwed this class up. Bell would not even had visited us again if Dooley was never fired. The end of the day Dooley dug us a hole in this class we couldn't recover from. The top of that list is probably Vonn Bell. It really made me sick seeing Dooley talk about recruiting on ESPNU, he talked some about Bell and Ohio State really closing the deal...no Dools he was ours to lose at the start of his recruitment and you screwed it up!!!! I supported that sorry joke of a coach until the State game.... Hammy & Dools really drove this program into the ground!

If the kid wants to take the easier route... he was never Tennessee material to begin with....

Playing at Tennessee in the coming years will not be for the faint of heart.... but for those with a STOUT heart !!

God Bless the stout hearted!!! WELCOME NEW VOLS!!!!

    Oooo Rah!!!!

I think a 17 or 18 year old kid's definition of a fan is much different than mine. I guess i should classify myself as a die hard.

  • I hope Von Bell didn't give the fans a single thought as he made his decision. His job isn't to make us or anyone else happy. His job is to find the best option for his college football career. He chose the option he believes is best, whether or not we agree.

While prospects shouldn't deliberately toy with the emotions of fans, they also shouldn't time their decisions just to make fans happy. We're rooting for the success of a team. They're making a choice that will define them for the rest of their lives.

Your comment is interesting in that we on the OSU board thought that Vonn opened up his recruiting and started to seriously consider us only after Dooley was fired.
