Nothing against the guy, he's probably a fine coach but if yer not gonna get a minority guy why not keep Hinshaw? That guy has recruited his ass off here...not a great WR coach though so maybe that's the reason...me dont know.

I'm confused on the mindset as far as needing a minority coach. If we can't get one why not keep hinshaw??? Going by that logic if we couldn't get Charlie Strong we should have kept Dooley. It doesn't matter to me what color a man's skin is. I just want somebody that can recruit like crazy and coach 'em up when they get on campus.

Just get the best coach and recruiter no matter if they are black, white , green, purple or whatever. As long as they like ORANGE.

I would like that hire, but that would be 7 honkey's and two african american's on the staff. I'd be perfectly fine with that, but you can bet 100% other schools would point that out to recruits.

I may be way off base, but I don't see many recruits having a problem with our relative lack of diversity. If you can connect to a player, you can connect to them, regardless of race or age.

Alabama has 3 black coaches on their staff. All this time we couldn't figure out what made them so much better then us, but it's obvious. It's the extra black dude.
Seriously guys, we are making way too big a deal out of the race of our WR coach.

Lack of diversity at UT, by who's measure? I would counter that argument with the following. We had the first if not one of the first African-American basketball coaches in the SEC. Our current men's basketball coach is also African-American and is well thought of and popular as well. One of our most beloved football players ever was also the first African-American quarterback in the SEC. His name is Condredge Holloway. His run from the locker room to the side line after an injury is one of my greatest football memories. We would have had an African-American head football coach if he had chosen to accept our offer.
Folks, we've got nothing to apologize for. Hire the best man available who can coach wide receivers and recruit his butt off and be done with it no matter what his race!

This is the most ridiculous argument we've had since I became a regular poster on the board. Seriously, the statement was made that if we can't get a black coach we should have kept hinshaw. Just ignore all the recruiting deficiences we had while he was the RC just keep him if we are going to hire another "honkie". How about judging coaches by their résumé and not their race. This is nuts. It doesn't matter what color the head coach is, but it does matter what color the position coaches are. Is that really the argument being made? Would you hire a lesser coach if it meant having 3 black coaches on staff?
