  • When did we become a 4-3 only defense rather than multiple?

    We were told in the spring that we would be multiple: 3-4 and 4-4. We were told that we would ease into the 3-4 as practicable. Now we are being told that the problem with our defense is that the players are either having a hard time learning the 3-4 and/or our players are not right for the 3-4.

    Well, do what you said you would do. Back off implementing the 3-4 until you have the right players and they are properly trained.

  • I don't recall hearing anything about the 4-4. Also, I didn't watch the South Carolina so I'm not sure what you're talking about but the first sentence and last sentence are a bit contradictory. You say we have become a 4-3 only defense, then you suggest we back off from implementing the 3-4. If we're a 4-3 only defense, we've already backed off from the 3-4.. Maybe if I'd of watched the game I'd have a better understanding. Care to clarify?

    Sorry for the typo. I meant 3-4 and 4-3.

    I am pretty sure that the original story was that they would add be "multiple" by gradually implementing the 3-4 into the 4-3. When push came to shove, they went to the 3-4 almost exclusively.

    The larger point is that iif the 3-4 is not working they always could have stayed with the 4-3 or reverted back to it.
