W/R/K/Board - Effects of Watson Leaving

  • Does this increase the chance of Pig playing at tailback? I still think he would be a lights out running back, especially in this system. There's the speed we so lack.

i was going to suggest Pig being used like Wes Welker..i dont see him as a full time RB. He can certainly line up there from time to time, like Percy Harvin perhaps, but i would move him around and just get the ball in his hands..

re: loss of Watson..very very very disappointing. i really liked Q. I thought as a true freshman he had a spark and showed he had a decent future. the hits just keep on comin for us..

  • I don't think Pig is a true tailback, but I do think he could be effective in a limited role at the position. When I picture him running between the tackles, going head to head with an SEC MLB.. it's not pretty. When I picture him on a toss sweep or catching passes out of the back-field.. I like what I see.

  • Pig is a phenomenal athlete. He's never seemed like a true WR to me, nor does he seem like a true RB. But he can definitely be utilized at each position in different situations. I'd love to see him line up at tailback and Jones' offense run some HB screens for him (used kind of like Sproles is used). At the same time, I think he can still be very effective as Wes Welker-like slot receiver. And if this Ryan Jenkins kid is as good as everyone says he is, that gives us another player to throw in at the slot when Pig is lined up in the backfield. It'll be interesting to see how Butch uses him this season, to say the least.

    Butch, please!

  • I agree with the above and probably was too vague in my OP. I agree that he's not a true, between-the-tackles-in-the-SEC kind of kid, but should be used in a very versatile way. I think he could be a candidate for screen plays, outside runs, wildcat QB formations, slot receiver, fly sweeps, and so on.
