We just got called a top 15 team by ESPN's BMOC

I was shocked, but excited at the same time.

  • Actually I have heard a lot of positive comments for us through espn all week even heard one guy can't recall his name but he said that he could actually see tennessee winning the east this year

  • The media crack me up. Two weeks ago Dooley was going to be fired, now we are a hot commodity. I'm glad we have a coach that can maintain perspective while the C students in journalism sling hyperboles from their perches on both extremes of the bell curve.

Sorry, I'm not buying. In my view we are just one win past the Kentucky debacle. We don't know how good NC State will be this year. Come see me in late October and then we'll know if this team deserves national attention.

  • I'm buying it I don't care If it's after one game this team is way deeper than it was last year Kentucky is over and done with I don't care about Kentucky and they sure as hell don't but this is our time in my opinion to show we are the real deal when we play Florida

UT has to beat Florida or the first three games this year will have gone eerily similar to the first three games last year, and I predict that the emotions and outlook of the fans and national media, atleast in the short-term, will have ebbed and flowed in a similar fashion.

  • I didn't realize Woziejosisnswei or whatever his name is graduated from UT.

  • No reason not to enjoy hearing good things being said about our football team. It only helps our exposure. On the other hand, I agree it really is irrelevant at this point, but so is having Bama ranked #1. At this point I'd rather they be talking about us as a top 15 team than I would a bottom-dweller. twocents

I agree with this.....except that I believe the FL game will be where we break from last year's pattern and go on to bigger and better things. FL has been the measuring stick for a successful TN season for a long time. Having that game early in the season has seemed to set the tone so often. I think TN beats them pretty good this year, feels some pressure released, and goes on to at least 9 Wins.

I think UT beats Florida this year. I think UT would have beaten Florida last year, if Hunter hadn't gone down in the game. I look at it like this- Tennessee's offense is better or no worse going into the Florida game than it was last year; Florida's offense is missing alot of experienced playmakers from last year; Tennessee's defense is considerably better, with more weight and talent up front, more experience at LB and in the secondary; Florida's defense will be very good, but last year even after Hunter went down, away from Neyland, Tennessee was able to move the ball.

My original point was only to highlight the fact that at this time last year, after Cinci, the media was in love with Bray, Hunter, and Rogers. Cinci had shown up right outside the top 25 to start the season and we blasted them so there were alot of good feelings circulating just like now.

We called him Wojo in college and he still answers to it. He went to the Chicago Trib out of college and made a great name for himself covering sports before moving over to ESPN. He's a great guy.

Many also are not aware that Woody Paige (Denver Post and frequent ESPN contributor) is also a former Vol.

  • Yeah, I actually did know about Paige because I read the Denver Post almost daily. I like Paige a good bit - his article about his thoughts on suicide was one of the most moving pieces I've read by a sports columnist. Rarely see that kind of honestly and vulnerability.

  • Good to see UT is getting some positive National coverage for a change. That helps with recruiting and I am really looking forward to watching this team play this year. I hope to see some SEC wins this year to keep this team in the headlines.

  • Sometimes I just wish that the guys waiting for the other shoe to drop would wait on it to fall before they start talking negative about the team. I mean if your kid had subpar year last year with grades and then bring home all B's on their first grade card of the year, you're not going to say "whatever, I wanna see your next grade card" No you are not! You're going to say something like "Great job! Keep up the great work" It's been hard being a VOL fan the last 5-6 years! If our team starts out 1-0 while beating a better team than last years Cincinatti and we want to get excited, let us. Don't try to bring us down. Trust me we know it was the 1st game of the year and I know NO ONE WILL EVER FORGET GETTING BEAT BY KENTUCKY, hell for that matter they're not going to let us forget it. All I'm saying is just let us have our moment, although it might be short, in the sun. GO VOLS!!

Ignore the NegaVols. They are the Legions of the Miserable and lead sad lives.

We're on the upswing. Show all the enthusiasm you want. They are just jealous because they can't find any positive emotions in their twisted existence.
