We need DEs in this class...to be ok for 2014

Carr is a DT day #1 at his size and he is kinda soft for now
C Jackson wants to play TE from everything I have heard and he is a bit of a risk grade wise
Sanders might be a DT too and he is starting to get attacked by other good programs (2 of those with former UT assts at of course). A great early eval/ offer by Dooley was key. Bit of a risk with grades too (maybe)
Lawson and Bellamy? Jalen Miller? That is 3.....Who else? We need 2-3 true DEs in this class and not counting either of the 2 above.
IF I had to say the top 3 reasons we struggle:
1. Lack of a pass rush
2. Lack of speed/ fast play by our DBs
3. Lack of elite experienced playmakers all over the field....the ones we had were inexperienced in big games incl Bray, Hunter and CP but this is at DB, LB, TE, WR, RB etc

They had Joe Theisman on radio up here and he said 3 priorities for building a team...
1. QB
2. O-Line
3. Pass rushers
We really lack pass rushers, and I can't remember the last good one we had off the edge. I liked your comparison, I think it was you of Carr to Malik Jackson. Lawson would go a long way as I think he would start Day 1. 3 DE's sounds about right.

Probably need to add Vereen too, according to Wes' article earlier. But three sounds good this year so that we aren't scrambling next year at this time.

True........he could be a WDE in sub packages if he gets up to 250 but IMO he is an OLB til then and esp til he gets stronger. The problem with Maggitt is similar.......true FR and Soph OLBs are just not strong enough to rush from a WDE spot more often than not.
JMO the type we need are the 3 I mentioned but good catch with Vereen

It may have been said and I just missed it because I don't see VIP stuff at the moment, but Vereen can play DE. Not sure where the coaches want him. We obviously have needs at OLB but Vereen has the versatility to help at any front 7 position except DT
