    - Yard signs?
    - Get Out the Vote?
    - Any negative stuff come out against you?
    - Did you drop any bombs on your opponent?
    - How many millions did you spend on TV ads?

Would love to hear the story.

Is the alderman compensation worth the hassle?
What do you like to do for fun when you are not delivering pizzas, aldermanning, going to school, posting on 247?

  • Thanks for getting this rolling poli! I'm with Northern Virginia and have some campaign questions:

    1. How many people usually vote in the city elections?

    2. Did you conduct an old-fashioned & fun door-to-door campaign?

    3. Did you spend much on newspaper or radio advertising?

    4. What was your platform?

    5. Did you have any previous public service experience?

    6. How come I didn't see you at the TML Legislative Conference earlier this week in Nashville?

First of i am excited to be able to participate today.

I will be able to post some now, but i will have a short hiatus during a dentist appointment today.

    To your question poli

All i know is this. I enjoyed partying a bit during high school and a bit after. The year that the white Sox won the world series initially, I think it was 05 or 06,I was partying that night that the work series ended. We all thought it would be a good idea to go to Wal-Mart and run through Wal-Mart with white Sox in our hands screaming about the white Sox winning the world series. All good ideas come together when your partying. So we did just that, but during our time at the Wal-Mart i would come across a man dressed in full Alabama dress. This of course was offensive to me and I knew I had to act. I would proceed to stand very close to the Alabama fan while reading Alabama in almost every sentence I said. That would actually turn out to not be such a good idea. He didn't take to kindly to what i thought was good old friend ribbing, and decided to chase us out of the Wal-Mart. I had never been happier in my life or laughed as hard. That was a great adventure

NOVA, Hello and thank you for your questions. I was excited to be able to run for alderman this year. We did yard signs, and pocket cards. I of course did some door to door get out to vote stuff to be quite honest this is a very small town. Talking to people is the best way anywhere to get elected from what I can tell. I am person who has always been decently known in the community the question is what was I known for. Over the last few years I changed the what was I known for to a much more favorable standpoint, so the guy who you either really liked or really didn't like became the guy everyone generally liked. Once i knew i had perception changed I thought I would try for the office and lucky enough for me my hard work has paid off. It was a great process, and one I hope to do again.

Hello bafletch, thanks for your time

Biscuits of course. Cornbread is to dry for my taste. Biscuits with a little sausage gravy, and a dash of pepper that is all a man needs in the morning.

When our if i get a few months of free time I thoroughly enjoy a video game our two. I also like to travel, and see this great country around me. I enjoy high school sports, and know few people with in the local high school sporting arena well. I am down for pretty much anything besides crazy biker clubs.

Volviking, thank you sir for participating.

    1. We are a very small town. We only have about 600 people who actually turn out at the polls and with our elections you choose 3 alderman at one time so one person can definitely change an election here.

    2. I sure did. It was great meeting those that i didn't know, but with this being a small town i knew do many already so the home visits were very comfortable.

3.Being small all we bought were little pocket cards that you see in my signature and some road signs that are exactly the same. They worked well when they were not being stolen.

4.Just to keep progressing like the city has been with the new administration the past eight years. This place was a horror story politically when i was growing up, and it cost this town 30 years. The current mayor started 7 years ago and this place had started to shape up. We are currently working on a sewer system. Which is something we should have had 30 years ago.

5.This is my first time in public office, but i have always been involved in the community. Especially around our high school.

6.I am still learning on the fly. I had to look up TML ha. I have so much to learn, but it is exciting. That looks like something the mayor should be attending though

    Thanks again Vol Viking

  • A quick follow-up comment Alderman: Even though you have been elected, please use an old trick and continue to put out cards every year. I would put the UT football schedule on some and the local middle school and high school schedules on others. It helps keep your name out there and people actually keep the cards for a few months.

I do not make it to Hancock County much, but it is not a bias or anything, I just do not have much reason to head down Highway 70. It is beautiful country out that way. I was hoping actually that Volunteer would play Hancock in football one day just so I could make the trip. Since I went to Volunteer years ago I have always just been more associated with Church Hill and Kingsport. Heck I barley even go to Rogersville.
