Do you have any suggestions for Nashville restaurants to hit up before Saturday's game?

For the first time ever, I will invite Ryno into my thread, because he's a Nashville-area brat and would know much more than me.

I know Rotier's is near Vandy's campus and has awesome cheeseburgers on French bread.

Alright Wes, in honor of UT playing little brother this week, Arsenal is playing there little brother in Tottenham...

You're Wenger last Saturday who do you have step up to take the PK?

Believe it or not I would've picked Arteta to, Cazorla a close 2nd.

    1) Arsenal has never lost to Tottenham, only trailed a couple of times when time expired and Tottenham had cheated to get a goal or two. Or four. GO GUNNERS!!!

    2) With no RVP any more, I'd pick Arteta for all PKs until someone else proves they're better. I love Arteta on PKs and free kicks, which is why I wanted to throw up when he missed that one at the whistle last week.

Some questions not about football: 1) did you originally think GoVols247 would be successful with people having to pay? 2) are there any ex-vol players you know on the board? 3) bonus question...more like a favor, can you tell Bomani Jones to unblock me on twitter? (Trellmac1321)

Bo told me he'd unblock you and tweet and you to let you know.

  • Who do you think is higher on Tenn's list. Jimbo Fisher or Charlie Strong? I've heard Fisher is next after a run at Gruden. Would personally hate it

    I don't think they'll go 3-0, but I could definitely see 2-1.

Just not sure I'd pick 'em to beat OkieState and then N.C. State in the same weekend without Maymon. But we'll see.

As Wes said, you can't go wrong with Rotier's cheeseburgers — or bacon cheeseburgers — on french bread, but be prepared for a wait if you go close to game time. It's usually busy even before and after Vanderbilt basketball games, and I've never been there on a football game day, but I would imagine it's pretty packed.

Pancake Pantry in Hillsboro Village is a Nashville landmark that, as the name would suggest, has awesome pancakes. People usually line up outside, especially on weekends, to wait for a table. I think it closes at 4 on Saturdays, so you'll have to go there a little earlier in the day if you want to do that.

Jack's Bar-B-Que on Broadway near Bridgestone Arena is another of my favorites. San Antonio Taco Company is a good, fast-casual Tex-Mex place on the edge of Vandy's campus that has a great patio and beer, and Sam's in Hillsboro Village is one of my favorite sports bars anywhere. It's a great place to watch games and grab some solid bar food (I'd recommend any of the hot subs or pizzas) in a cool part of town before heading over to the game, and it's only a mile or so from the stadium.

  • Where do you come down on Dooley as a person? You've had interaction behind the scenes with the guy. Lots of people will go both ways that he is arrogant or he is a great guy. The report of how he is with Hood this year shows that he is a good person, while others say people who work for him behind the scenes hate him.

I can understand him being tougher on people who work for him, and as a manager while I always want people to generally like me, I feel they'll work harder for me that way, I can't exactly be their best friend with decisions that have to be made from time to time.

Personally, I've met him 3 times. Twice at Big Orange Caravan functions and once outside of anything UT related. Every time he's been respectful and came off well to me. I just don't get some of the personal hatred of him that is out there from time to time other than he is losing football games which pisses off the fan base.

    1) I mean ... they'll beat Kentucky. Surely.

    2) As Rawhide Rucker would say, "Deal with it."

    Drive? No.

I'm not sure I would even want to live.

JKLOLOMG. I only tolerate cold weather when it snows. Then it's OK, because the weather makes me want to die but at least it's pretty outside.

  • Now that we've had a few days to calm down, what do you think of Dooley's reasoning for going to overtime? I've heard him explain it twice and it's given me the impression that he hadn't given up on the offense like everyone thinks he did; he just gave up on them for that certain play. He wanted to give them a little chance to regroup and he honestly had faith that both the offense and defense could pull it off in overtime. I'm not a coach, so I can't defend either way, but I do see at least a little bit of logic in there. In hindsight, was the decision as bad as everyone has made it out to be?

  • On a scale of 1 to Giancarlo Stanton how pissed are you about covering your (I think) 6th coaching search in the last 4 years for the major men's sports at UT
