What's the deal with shaving your beard for charity?

SportClips contacted the station about asking me to shave the beard for charity. As long as people donate money, they'll donate, too.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but I got to pick the charity and wanted to pick something for East Tennessee kids.

I think I'm going with Camp Koinonia — a summer camp for children with special needs that allows them to do outdoor activities they wouldn't normally get to do.

My best friend is still in a wheelchair after sustaining serious brain injuries in a car accident when we were 16, so special needs children are kind of a soft spot for me.

  • There aren't many charities I wouldn't want to help, though.

I usually prefer local charities — especially those benefiting children — but it's been bothering me that I haven't used the platform I have to do enough for the Wounded Warrior Project. That's gonna have to happen some point very soon.

Next time you go through on your way to Charlotte send me a PM and I'll take you over to Alston Bridges and treat you to some good ol' Cleveland County Barbeque, Hushpuppies and Tea.

    Deal.

    Big fan of this.

Side note: Spent like 15 minutes yesterday morning trying to find a simple Ric Flair "Woooo!" YouTube. Simply doesn't exist. Damn shame.

I would try and find McCullers hitting Borque and put the Woooooooo! Behind it

I'm trying to recall correctly but wasn't there a scene in the original(haven't seen the remake) Longest Yard where the big guy clotheslines someone and says "I think I broke his f***ing neck"?

You are a good man Wes Rucker. When this event happens post something on here so those of us not living in TN can donate to the cause. But only if a nice clean shaven picture of Wes is included. +1

Went to Gardner Webb for grad school. Live in KC and love KC BBQ, but have to admit Bridges is the best I've ever had. I gained a lot of hush puppy and tea weight while I lived there. That stuff in unlimited supply is dangerous.

Did you like the bbq slaw? I love it as much as the bbq itself. Most not from this area are not familiar with it. I went to good ol' GW but at the time studying was not a priority and they asked me to leave. But I only live 5 minutes from the campus and have a lot of friends associated with the university. Our Youth Minister heads up Student Recreation and his wife just received her doctorate from there and teaches there. If you haven't been lately you would be shocked at all of the changes. Beautiful campus.

Went to the seminary there. Graduated in 04. Haven't been back in several years but I'm a big believer in GWU. Really underrated school. As someone born in Kentucky who is not a UK fan, the day GWU beat them was one of the best of my life. Ha!

My friends always called it red slaw. Only place I've ever really had that slaw was in Carolna. Great part of the country.
