BATON ROUGE, La. — Tennessee staged a furious second-half rally Wednesday night, overcoming a 15-point deficit and out-lasting LSU for a 74-69 overtime win.

  • Another big time effort by Tenn.......it's really going to be a shame if they don't make the dance. This team has a lot of heart and really deserve to go....there was a time this season I could not imagine myself even thinking that much less saying it. As I saw someone else say yesterday, lock up Martin because this guy can not only coach but he knows how to motivate as well.

  • Agreed. It's great to see this team coming together. Hopefully the selection committee will see that this is a much different team than the one that lost to Austin peay and the college of charleston early in the year.
That said, it looks like we will need a win against vandy or a very deep run into the SEC tourney to have a shot. There is no question that the team is hot right now so both of those seem like a very real possibility. Fingers crossed!!!

  • At the first of the year, if someone would have said we will win 3 SEC road games, I would have thought they were crazy. This team has heart and a very good coach. Bring on Vandy.

  • Great win last night. They made it tough on themselves by getting so far behind early. I thought LSU just out-hustled us. But give CCM and the team credit for never giving up.

    Impressive come from behind victory

  • I'll admit to thinking the whole comeback was for naught as soon as the game went to OT, but this team of great guys who started playing hard a month ago, and who has now started playing together, has apparently found a heart, too--esp. Cam. Now if Cam can just keep it up and be consistent. Playing Candy at home should help, and if we beat 'em, it oughta help the 'ol RPI, too.

  • What a game! I don't think I've ever seen a game where a team never led during either half and won. I love the way CCM has this team playing. Whether we make the NCAA tourney or not, this has been one helluva exciting run, and I can't wait to see what the future holds. So proud of these guys for buying in. It's not the coach or the system they thought they would be playing for/in, but they've bought in despite the lack of early success, which is a testament both to the leadership in the locker room and CCM. Now lets get this win against Vandy! GO VOLS! vols

  • Question: Will we finish second in the SEC if we win and UK wins? What about if Alabama beats Ole Miss on the road? They'll have the same record as us and they won head-to-head. Isn't that right? Not trying to poke holes. This is just the second place I've seen it and I want to understand what's going on or what I'm missing.

  • UT looked uninspired early in the game, but found motivation after half-time...maybe CCM lit a spark. Great win! I hope this team gets an opportunity in the Big Dance. GBO!

  • After what I saw in the second half last night I'm going to agree.

If UK wins and Tennessee wins, UT finishes second in the east. Alabama is 1-2 vs Tennessee, Florida, and Vandy. Tennessee would be 3-2. Vandy would be 3-2. Florida would be 2-2. Vandy and Tennessee have the same record so the next tie breaker is head to head. 1-1 against each other. They go to the next tie breaker which is record vs 1 team in the SEC which is the same. So the tie breaker ends up being head to head match up against Florida(4th in SEC). Tennessee

I'll give another +1. That formula sounds like a physics equation.

    agreed

+1 from me as well; physics has nothing on the SEC 2-seed tiebreakers lol

Yes. Tennessee wins any tiebreaker that involves Florida because of the sweep.

  • I haven't seen where Lunardi or anyone even has us in the discussion for the NCAA..I would imagine that if we beat Vandy and win one in the SEC tourney we could be on the bubble..but IF we were selected I would imagine we would have the highest rpi of any at large team in recent history.

No matter where we end up I've got it covered, I've posted the links to brackets for the NCAA/NIT/CBI tourneys on one of my blogs!
