Anytime anyone breaks down the recruiting failures from Fulmer to Kiffin and throws in attrition, you have to wonder how Tennessee didn't lose more than 7 games in any particular season.
I'd love it if the Vols were already back to competing at the highest level of the SEC. Sadly, they're stuck in the middle right now, IMO. Of course, the middle would be progress compared to last year, when Tennessee was on the bottom.
To get to the level of LSU and Bama, Tennessee first has to get to the level of Florida, South Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi State. Going 2-2 against that competition would show me that Derek Dooley has the program ready to make the jump to the next level.
