Cheek can only say so much about spending on football without facing a faculty revolt. He has reluctantly realized he can't keep looting UTAD to pay for parking garages and keep the library open. He just can't admit it in public.

Also, Hart made some comments yesterday that indicated Cheek would be sending funds to the AD instead of the AD funding the university...

You're only setting yourself for up for disappointment if you're pinning your hopes and dreams on ONE coach, and a longshot at that. There are plenty capable, competent coaches out there not named Jon Gruden. Relax, my friend, let the search process play itself out.

After 35 years of watching how UT handles its money, I'd be astounded to see them take money out of the academic till to finance a football transition.
I really don't think it will come to that. Hart will have to put together a financial coalition. Donors will have to write checks, and the chancellor will chip in by agreeing to stop robbing athletics.
The money will be there if the hire is right.
