Just googling the major SEC schools and big name players nationally almost all of them seem to give sizable contributions to academics, including Kentucky. I know many athletic departments don't turn a profit but almost all successful football programs do.

I know some are saying he's over reacting, but I'm inclined to agree with him. I never attended UT, I've never been a season ticket holder. I'm 36 and the ONLY college team I've ever rooted for is the Volunteers. Heck is was the only football I knew until Jr high school.

I WANT season tickets, I WILL have them in the next 5 years, pending who is coaching. The more I like the Coach, the more likely I pony up the cash sooner than 5 years. I'm a no body, blue collar single Dad and I plan to indoctrinate my Daughter into going to UT even though she's tells me she doesn't want to go to college and leave daddy. She's 6, how many others are out there finally getting their finances stable enough to do something they're dreamed of for years? Tickets sales are down, season tickets are down, just seems like the money will come if they do whats right and ignite a hopeful fanbase with a great Hire. Unfortunately for them I think a large majority want Gruden BADLY. For better or worse I hope we get him, because there isn't another coach out there that makes me want to buy tickets for next season today. Every single other coach will have to prove themselves first, because not every fan already trust them.

Does that make sense to anyone? I'm tired and not sure i was quite a coherent as i needed to be.

The one thing you are missing is that the university won't pay the new coach's salary or the old coach's buyout. The buyout comes down to creative accounting but it's not hard to move money around. The NCAA can say whatever they want but once the money goes into the bucket how can you stop how it gets poured out.

Also if you hire a Gruden or anybody who ends up being successful they will more than make their money back. Just ask Bama about their revenues with Saban. The problem we've had is we are paying out like winners and getting the results of losers. Winning will fix everything.
